Default Absorbing protein

I was wondering if anyone knew if our body only allows so much protein to be absorbed at at time.

I normally make my protein shake with 2 scoops of protein powder along with 1 cup milk so it totals 48g protein.

Is that too much at once. i asked the nurse prat at my surgeons office and she said it was fine but I thought I heard otherwise elsewhere. Cant remember where.

I just want to make sure Im getting the right # of protein grams in a day.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i think doc said 25 -30g at a time. i asked the same question because i was using isopure at the time and started double scooping it to get more in. i was feeling really crappy at that point and was trying to "up" my protein. i dont think it will HURT you but you might not be taking it all in so to speak. it also depends how long it takes you to drink it so to speak.

i think the only downfall is the more you use the more calories the shake will be........but im not dr lol! im sure doc sanae will be in shortly to explain

I put 2 scoops in 8 oz milk and I drink it in less than a minute. Hate drinking them so I want to get it over with ASAP. But if Im not getting all the protein in I will do it in 2 doses.

The protein that isn't absorbed will be flushed out, anyway. It will go through your guts without being absorbed and leave your body. So, even if the extra ups the calorie intake as is, actually, if it isn't absorbed, it won't count. 30g 3 times a day will total 90g, actually, so that should be enough to keep your protein level intact. You can divide your shake in 2 and take it twice a day, plus your regular meal. That should make the total amount enough for you.

less than a minute?? gosh thats impressive i wish i could sip that fast lol! i dont think you are getting it all if its close to 50g. why not split it into two 4 oz shakes one scoop each? then you will get the full amount...just a thought.
