Default abdominal binder suggestions

Hi all,

I've been having pain throughout my left side for the last few days (I'm now 6 weeks out). I spoke with my surgeon yesterday and he suggested I look into getting an abdominal binder to help support the muscles around the healing area.

I guess this is something common to those of us that had open RNY. Did anyone use one? Do you have a particular brand, model or style that you prefer? Thanks!~

Amy

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Sorry but I cant help. sounds like a good idea though. That would have
been good. I wasnt really in pain but it was uncomfortable so a binder would have been good. Im sure some of the others will be on shortly to give some advise. Good luck.

Thanks Kenya! Whatever info you have would be appreciated! I'm glad to hear that it was helpful for you. I would hate to spend the money on it to have it just sitting around useless. Thanks again!

they sent one home with me and I ended up using it when I had horrible back pain and it was helpful to a point for sure. Having that pressure on the incision site helped a lot on comfort.

Im acutally suprised they didnt send home in one acutually. I have woke up from surgerys with one on. Have the Dr write you a RX for it and the insurance will cover it if medically necessary.

i used to wrap that sucker around my middle so tight that i felt my heartbeat in my head lol! im kidding, but it takes a lot the added stress off of your back which you are probably using more now that your abdominal area is out of commission....highly suggest this

Thanks ladies! I bought one this afternoon at a local medical supply store and it does indeed feel better. Thank you so much for your input and help! It's so nice to have a place to come where everyone understands what you're going through with little explanation.

You ladies are the best!
