Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Ok folks! Another episode is on. Let's meet up afterwards and talk. This week's recap: Tiffany: 600+ lbs. we were follwoing her story last week. The drs are requiring her to lose weight and become more educated. She and her cousin anthony ( caregiver) had a falling out over him leaving her alone in the apartment. does she have a right to depend so heavily on him? Are her expectations for 24 hour a day care reasonable? there was an issue the possible inability to maintain herself post op (re: inability to afford supplements, lack of support, inability to get out of the house for support etc) does anyone else feel like they are looking for reasons to NOT give her this surgery?? Gosh I feel for her I really do. I want to just give her a hug and tell her it will work out. I cant do anything but tear up when I think about her situation ![]() Lynne: Bypass patient with excess skin. they had to plan her plastic surgery in two shifts. 1st surgery hernia repair and tummy work (13 lbs of excess skin!!!!), 2nd surgery the backside Wanda: Lap band patient. Former drama teacher. Breast cancer survivor. They chose the band due to her medical history in the event that she got sick again, this would be easier to manage. start weight 277 lbs. down 22 lbs 30 days post op. Chime in at any time. Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well, at least it isn't totally over for her. I'm happy about that. But I do agree...I don't see how she could be successful living there at home. It's just a sad situation all around. To be sooo young ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i disagree. brookhaven wouldnt do her any good. they allow cheating and that so isnt what she needs right now. if thats the case she could go home and let them feed her to death. she needs structure and education. i dont think being out there alone was good. if there was a way she could have a nurse or a health aide or something i would have felt a little more comfy with the situation. a shame she moved all that way for them to turnher down. i hope they show more next week. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Kenya I agree with you. Going to Brookhaven is not a good idea because they do allow them to cheat. I was watching some show on TV name I eat 33,000 calories a day and they had nurses aids come to assist some of these people daily. So I couldn't see why that couldn't happen for her. There are government assistant programs that could assist her with the care that she needs. At least long enough until she is able to this on her own. Maybe it's more too the story, I don't know but I did feel so sorry for her. She knows going back home will not be good for her, due to her family eats all the time. Now as for her cousin, maybe it was too much to ask one person to do 24 hours a day, whom is not trained to handle all types of medical needs. He had a point when he told her that when they were back home he was able to come in help her then leave and come back. I think his heart was in the right place but just didn't realize, he had to be there 24/7 and it was a bit too much for him and by Tiffany being away from her family she needed him more than ever. It's a sad situation for all involved. |
