i am a little bummed out. i hover between 203 and 201 and have been for weeks....AM I EVER GONNA GET BELOW 200 LBS????
is there ever a point where you just lose? I mean i honestly feel as though i am still yo-yoing like pre-op and its a downer. one week i gain 3 or 4 next week i lose 2 or so. Am i doing something wrong?? or is this how it is for everybody?? Yes, in the end there is a loss, BUT a net loss of 6 lbs in one month kinda sucks. any thoughts?

Well, 3-4 months out, people seem to hit a slow slope. Then it starts moving again at a faster rate.
((((((HUGS))))) Hang in there, Onederland will come for sure.

OMG....this is so TOTALLY me!!! I am seven months out and I have only lost 2 lbs in the last 6 weeks! Things have really slowed down for me in the past two months. I have been in a funk thinking this surgery and all the stuff I have been through with the surgery wasn't going to work for me after all. I am seven months out and am still over 200 lbs! I was so unmotivated and so depressed a couple of months ago and I met a girl who had the surgery (who is a member of this board) and she suggested I come here for support and also gave me some other incentives and ideas. I FINALLY started walking six weeks ago and no weight loss! I could not believe I wasn't loosing weight. I have been going through a really discouraging time this past week and decided I need to read the forums and start becoming an active part of this board. I need support! My husband is average weight and can eat anything he wants. He doesn't understand my situation. I had the surgery on 01/17/07 and have lost ony 68 pounds. My parents also had the surgery. My father on 02/01/07 and my mother on 02/14/07. My dad had more weight to loose, but he has lost 130 lbs! My mother who was the same size as me has lost about 80 lbs and neither one of them excercises and are 25 years older than I! However, they have each other for support and it is only the two of them in the household.
I am right there with ya, struggling to loose the next POUND and getting so frustrated. I have always failed at weight loss and am terrified I am going to fail again! Somebody who has gone through this similar pattern of no weight loss and failure, please tell us there is hope.
I look forward to chatting with all of you. I really need you!
Newbie,
Sandy

Well you know Kenya I have not had my surgery yet but I know the hurdle you are trying to get over. For two months I could not get past 234. Everytime I went to my nutrionist it was the same. But then last month finally I dropped 7lbs and I didn't even do anything differently. My nutrionist told me that it happens alot. Sometimes your body just come to a stand still but keep trying and it will happen.

Sandy, welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on your weight loss, you are past your halfway mark, which is just about right, actually, you are supposed to lose about half of what you need to, in the first 6 months, so your scale sits just about at that place.
While your scale is not moving, what about your inches, your cloths size? Aren't you shrinking there?
Also, when you can't find any motivation.
Make a list of what you want to do, once you lose your weight.
Make a list of what you weren't able to do, that you are able to do now.
It may not be easy to step out from the negative thought that it may not work again, but please do make the effort to look at what you can do now.
Take a peek into the After WLS can't wait fors thread. Do you see anything there that strikes a chord in you? I'm sure there's a few things there that will ring bells for you.
Hang in there, the surgery is a tool, and it does take a lot of hard work to make this tool work, but so long as you are conscientious, you will get where you want to be, it's just that things often don't move along the schedule your brain sets, but mover along the schedule your body decides is best for you.
(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

hey can we go back to this for one sec please?? i think ive seen this posted before and i dont get it at all. lets say you need to lose 100lbs. you are only supposed to lose 50 in the first 6 months?? is that what you're saying? sorry i just need clarification.
and then if i do understand you correctly, does that mean for those of us who have lost half in less time (use me as an example: 50+ lbs in 4 mos) that nothing will happen between now and the next half? (so i wont lose anything for another two months?????)

Basically, that is the speed you lose on the average. That's why you're told that those who have to lose less, will lose slower than those who have to lose a lot. Of course, some people will loser faster than that, but just because you lose slower doesn't mean that it isn't working, it's just that your system is set up that way. Quote:

(so i wont lose anything for another two months?????) | You probably won't stop totally, but this may be one of the reason many people kinda stall around this time, the body is trying to adjust to the rapid 3-4 months. Even if the going is slow, there is no need to panic. You'll get to your goal at speed that is safe for your body and health. I am sorry that you feel like , but you can't set, or rather, you shouldn't let your brain set the schedule of how you lose, because your body is going to have a different idea. If you let your brain take the lead in how you think you should lose, then it's going to make you , so, so long as you are doing what you should, relax, sit back, and let your body do the rest.
Take a look at the thread Lisa posted way back showing the difference in monthly weight loss between her and Shelley-xsmith95. They are at about the same weight now, at 2 years out.
I know you are at a difficult time, with the seeming slowing down, but you will get to Onederland when it's time to, and it isn't far away. Actually, I think a lot of people sort of get stuck at just over 200 for some time, and then suddenly whoosh into Onederland. Once you break through what wall, you're weight loss will pick up again. Besides, even if your monthly losing is 6lb, give yourself 10 months, and you'll have an additional 60lbs gone.
Hang in there, you'll get there by the time fall comes.
