Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | THIS HAS TO BE THE HARDEST JOURNEY IVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!!! I STARTED THIS JOURNEY WITH PROBLEMS. I HAD MY SURGERY AND THEN FIND OUT THE NEXT DAY I HAD A LEAK. FEW DAYS LATER I FIND OUT THERE IS AN ABSESS IN THE WAY FOR THE LEAK TO CLOSE ITSELF. SO IN TOTAL IM IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 10 DAYS WITH 2 DRAIN TUBES INSIDE ME, AND SO SICK AND DEPRESSED!!! IN WHICH I GO HOME WITH ONE OF THEM. WHILE AT HOME THINGS GO VERY WELL WITH LIQUIDS AND FOOD. BUT NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN AN OTHER BUMP IN THE ROAD WITH FEELING SICK TO MY STOMACH, THROWING UP, ETC. THINGS ARE SLOWLY FEELING BETTER BUT IM STILL ON LIQUIDS AND A LITTLE BIT OF PUREE (a step backwards). IM GETTING WORRIED THAT MY WEIGHT LOSS IS SLOWING DOWN BECAUSE IM NOT CONSUMING MUCH FOOD INTO MY BODY WHICH HAS MADE MY BODY GO INTO STARVATION MODE AND HOLD ON TO MY WEIGHT.IM JUST SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED AND YET THE JOURNEY HAS JUST BEGUN. WHAT THE HELL ELSE IS IN STORE FOR ME I SOMTIMES WORRY!!! IT UPSETS ME SO MUCH TO SEE MY WEIGHT LOSS SLOW DOWN LIKE THIS BECAUSE I HAVENT BEEN FEELING WELL SINCE DAY 1. THIS IS JUST NOT FAIR. I WISH I COULD JUST FEEL NORMAL AGAIN AND LOSE WEIGHT AT A PACE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN MY WEIGHT RANGE!!!! I HAVE WORKED SO HARD AND NOW IM JUST SO TIRED!!!!!! I WANT TO FEEL NORMAL AND MOVE ON TO THE NEXT FOOD PHASE, ETC ETC. THANKS GUYS FOR LETTING ME VENT. I JUST FEEL SO FUSTRATED! AND AT TIMES UPSET AND DISSAPPOINTED. SORRY I HAVENT BEEN ON BOARD LATELY. I WILL AS SOON AS IM FEELING LIKE MY OLD SELF AND MY PARENTS GO BACK TO FL. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | BOOTS hang in there its not always an easy journey. DO yourself a favor and put the scale away and dont obsess on it right now.....YOUR tool will work but there are certain times on this journey the body stops to see whats going on and plataues and stalls. YOUR has been thru alot and its adjusting.... hang in there i know later down the journey your going to be happier and stronger. THIS isnt an easy journey an the things so far you encountered make it even harder for you. SCALE watching is not good for your moods. PLEASE put it away and just weigh monthly .....or only when you have follow ups at your surgeon it will be good for your well being. And i have seen this on plataus and it makes much sense too: Consider how difficult it is for you to run up ten flights of stairs all in one shot. Can you do it? I'm betting NOT unless you are a top-notch-conditioned Olympian, right? Now, of course, you could EVENTUALLY get up those ten flights of stairs if you rested on the landings periodically to catch your breath and pause for a moment before your heart explodes. you'd get up those stairs - but only if you rested on the landings or PLATEAUS. Well, running up ten flights of stairs in one shot is what we are asking our body to do after WLS in the way we want the body to lose a massive amount of weight. As our body loses weight so rapidly, it occasionally has to "rest on the landings" to catch its breath, get its bearings, take a breather. Then once it feels rested, it takes another shot at dropping the pounds again. It's remarkable that the body can drop so much weight so quickly anyway after surgery. but it can't do it all in one long shot like running up ten flights of stairs in one long shot. It has to rest on the landings or PLATEAUS. Keep this analogy in mind when you hit those plateaus. PLURAL. PLATEAUS. No such thing as ONE. you'll have many along your journey. When those plateaus hit, you still must do what you need to do. DON'T stop the good nutrition, the vitamins, the exercise. keep those routines going. And once your body is done "resting" in between the flights of stairs, it will kick in gear again for the next flight or two. And the more pounds that are dropped, the slower the pounds will drop too. so you will not lose rapidly during that last stretch of 25-30 pounds. it's like an athlete who gives his all during the race, sees the finish line in sight, and does all he/she can to finish. the muscles ache, the heart is about to burst. but the athlete DOES finish the marathon. some athletes "walk" across the finish line. but the point is they FINISHED. Understanding plateaus will help you relax a bit and keep you from self-doubt, which is something you don't need right now along your journey. hang in their your gonna be a BIG LOOSER but it doesnt happen over night like we all want it takes time, thankfully faster then a traditional diet.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | also this is something u might want to read cause you can proly relate: ALONG YOUR JOURNEY HAVE YOU HAD THESE THOUGHTS????? Postop Day 1 through Week 2: “What the hell did I just DO to myself???” “Why am I/am I not hungry?” “I’ll NEVER be able to get in all the fluid/protein/food they want me to.” “I can eat TOO much – did I break something?” “I can’t eat enough…will I die of starvation?” “I can’t believe how badly this hurt! ~OR~ I can’t believe I even had surgery, because there’s so little pain!” “Why do I have no energy?” “When can I eat….fill in the blank?” “Will I ever be able to gulp water again?” “Why did I GAIN 10 pounds???” “Wow, I’ve lost 10 pounds!” You think you've hit your first plateau. Nope. Odds are VERY good you haven't Postop weeks 2 through 12: Post op remorse usually fades during this time period. What a relief that is! You TRY hard to stick to your doctors diet regimen/protocol and wonder if you’re evil when you slip off the wagon by eating….fill in the blank. You think you've hit your first, 2nd or 3rd plataue Nope. Odds are VERY good you haven't) Nearly everyone experiences a stall during the first 3 months. You accidentally gulp water and freak that you’ve broken your pouch. You accidentally forget to chew something to death and fear you’ve plugged your stoma. You FEAR strictures, fistulas and leaks every time you burp, get nauseated, have diarrhea, feel a muscle cramp, etc. This fear is not abnormal and you ‘could’ have one of these since this is the prime time for it – however fear is no way to live. There are common symptoms attributed to these. Hopefully you’ve researched them postop and can shelve the fear and keep a reasonable eye out for them. Post op remorse usually fades during this time period. What a relief that is! You TRY hard to stick to your doctors diet regimen/protocol and wonder if you’re evil when you slip off the wagon by eating….fill in the blank. Months 3 through 18: You worry you are a slow loser and have days you doubt the tool will work, or wonder if it’s broke. I am NOT mocking. Some people’s tools DO break during this period of time, but it is in the minority, not the majority. You wonder if you’ll ever get to goal. You made goal and worry you’ll not stop losing. You worry because you can eat TOO much. You worry because you still eat too little. You worry about getting in enough protein. You worry you’re getting in too much protein. You ponder whether carbs are evil or not. You question again whether diet pills are evil. (They ARE!) You compare your losses against everyone else’s. You discover that you had an exercise guru hidden within you and are now an exercise maniac. You discover that you HATE exercise and try and force yourself to get moving. You may have hit your first plateau don't panic! - Have you noticed a reoccurring theme? Months 19 and beyond: You may hit a plataue don't panic! You reach goal and worry you'll regain. You wonder if you'll stop losing! You wonder if you'll EVER make goal (you've likely heard about the dreaded window and fear it closed at 18 months - You may find yourself sliding; eating the wrong foods; slacking on exercise; and freak when you regain 10 pounds. Time to get back on track! I am sure many can or will relate to these things! I know i can!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hey there, keep that chin up girl. This journey is extremely hard without complications....you have had way to much to deal with to soon. It is so hard to look at others who are taking the journey and think to yourself well why do i have to be the one with the complications? Unfortunatly God has a plan for each one of us long before it comes into play. He gives us what he thinks we can handle and we use that to make us stronger. I am speaking from experience not with my wls because that has been a smooth ride for me so far but my past health history has not always been. I have had many many surgeries, many very serious ones. At the time i used to cry and ask myself why me? As i look back those experiences have made me who i am today. All that said right here and right now its hard. I am praying for you for a smoother recovery. Just try to keep positive thoughts in your head. You have a beautiful baby and husband who need you to get better and be healthy physically and mentally. Thats why we went for the surgery right. Do what your docs tell you. Dont compare your journey to anyone elses. Its Gods plan for you. Take it one day at a time. ![]() LittleLisaMarie |
