Thanks for your reply. you are always so helpful. I will look into it. But right now i'm afraid of buying another one and end up not taking it. I think it's me. But I know I have to drink something.

Sorry you're having a hard time with it. I guess my first question is - it looks like you are more than six weeks out from your surgery -- how come you still have to do protein shakes? But if you do for some reason -- does it have to be the high protein ones? I mean, are you getting enough protein in what you are able to eat? I'm just going in for my surgery tomorrow, but I've been on a liquid diet for the past two weeks and have found all sorts of way to make protein shakes for myself that are really good. Last night I made one that was 2 cups of crushed ice, 4 Tbsp (or more to taste) of vanilla yogurt, 4 oz of Non fat milk, one Carnation Instant Breakfast chocolate envelope, 1 1/2 Tbsp of Hershey's Special Dark cocoa, Sweetner to taste, blend and I swear it tasted just like a creamy chocolate milkshake. It might be worth a try. And it would be just about 20 grams of protein.

Jill, i'm also kind of new at this. I am just following what the nutritionist say, I think you really never eat enough proteins and vitamins as before your surgery. That shake you described sounds good but we need about 80-90g of proteins a day and I can only drink about 2-3 fingers (sideways of course) of liquid at a time. When you have your surgery you'll see, you will never be able to drink a full cup of nothing. Not trying to scare you, but just to give you an idea. I was drinking 2 scoops of the protein in 2oz of milk, 2x a day of vanilla. now I don't even light up my vanilla candles. can't stand to even smell it.

80-90g of protein? WOW. i guess all of our drs are different.
alot of the sites suggested offer samples. try to find something. its hard at first i know. but i looked past the taste because i knew i just had to get it in. at this point food is a matter of nourishment. in the interim please drink what you have eventhough its yucky. you dont want to get sick. you'll find something that tastes a bit better in time.
I WISH there was a shot for this

I also just got some protein shakes (11 oz in a can) that are 35g per can. They were really quite good and you can probably work two of them into your day. Their called Extreme Smoothies Chocolate Dream by VHT.
