Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | well, as usual it shows bariatric intervention in a negative light stating there are no definite long term results and yuo will get sick etc, but again, we were all told that this was a tool and that the long term outcome would be on us. it was explained before hand that we had to commit to supplements and proper nutrition for life. i would assume those deemed "unsuccessful longterm" did not?? i guess its good to see both the good and bad. you cant sugar coat this. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Tried to check out the author's bio and couldn't get anywhere. The link doesn't give any more info than set out on the article page. From what I could tell she is a registered nurse not a doctor. I am a little cautious about her opinions since I couldn't check out her bio. The article seems very negative to me and contradics what my pcp and the surgeon told me. My surgeon's group keeps stats and has for over 20 years. They gave us handouts of their results and said we were welcome to look at their books. The hospital they are assoicated with requires them to keep the stats.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Honestly, I couldnt follow it. I dont know if it was me or how she wrote it. I still think the only people that can fully understand this surgery is people whom are obese or have been. Drs have other reasons for wating to help with it. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Yes very negative article but just some of the reasons people think so negativly about our surgery. As said above , its hard to understand what we go through unless you have gone through it yourself. But this is the type of stuff outsiders are reading and for this reason this surgery gets such negative attention. ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | This is a serious surgery and a lifelong committment to ensure our safety. From my research, everything is not la-ti-da. MOST cases are not successful. A lot of people die. Its important that everyone know and be reminded why its important to get all the facts before having the surgery and to remember how important getting adequate nutrition is throughout the day. I know reading this article just lit a fire in my arsh... I have been lax last week. Not anymore. Thank you for posting. |

| I should never have read this.. It made me cry... I know that things happen with this surgery but my health is getting worse every year and I know I only have about 10 years left if I don't do something. I am 46 and feel like I am 60. I have so much wrong with me that could kill me you would think that this would just be another to the list and not worry me. It has taken me a long time to decide to get this surgery. It just brought back all those scary things that kept me away from this for so long. I didn't finish this article I just couldn't.. I did follow a few of the links and the one is a paper from 1991 well I hope that things have gotten better since then.. And I agree that part of the problems here may be due to the fact that some people are not given the education they need to make this life change and end up with so many problems. My son was born with his bowels protruding from the side of his umbilical cord and he had three surgeries before he was 5 and I almost lost him all three times. I am well aware of what can happen to you when you have bowel problems and this article just brought back all that stuff I have been fighting with and thought was behind me. It is scary, but I want my life back and it's not going to happen any other way I am afraid.. sigh..sorry but this was upsetting for me..

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | LadyLisa, i have to say you have to prepare youself for stuff like this. some of us have been exposed to this already. it is not necessarily all factual or true, but merely a point of view. there are MANY people put there against what we have done or are seeking to do. and you cant let that discourage you or throw you off track. believe in yourself, your decision, follow your surgeons instructions and you will do fine. |
