Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm almost 6 months out and I haven't weighed myself in almost a month so I'm not sure what my actually weight loss is. My doctor ordered me a blood sugar meter because I have beeen having problems with feeling sick. I thought that I was actually suffering from low blood sugar because I'm not eating sugar. But i have been testing since I got my meter and some of the readings have been high like 220. About two days ago I started haveing pain in my back on the left hand side and when I eat my stomach hurts. It is now worse and I have hardly eaten anything at all because my stomach hurts. It gets so much worse when I eat or drink anything. I wasn't worried at first because I have a very phsical job and thought I had pulled a muscle but now it seem like the back pain and the stomach pain is conected. Has anyone else had a problemlike this? I'm trying to hold out till monday so I don't have to go to the ER.

| Super Moderator | 1) Blood sugar When is your blood sugar reading high, in relation to when you had your meal, and what is the reading 30-60 mins after the high reading? You may be having hypoglycemic attacks. With stomach surgery, sometimes, people get high blood sugar soon after eating, because carbs are absorbed at an earlier timing than with a large stomach, so even with small intake, the blood sugar level spikes. If the sbsquent reading 30 or so mins later is low, that's because your insulin has kicked in to lower the glucose, but the quick reduction of glucose from the blood stream results in hypoglycemic/dumping symptoms. 2) Pain. The pain you have may be from an ulcer in your pouch, or a gall bladder stone so it's best to contact your surgeon ASAP and get a scope and/or GB ultra sound study done. Don't put it off. In any case, the quicker you get attention, the better.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Ok, I have a charlie horse in the back of my thigh since yesterday that is killing me, it is a HUGE tight ball. I don't understand how I got it since I am doing no exercising except for the walking. How the heck do you get rid of these? My husband is worried because of all the hype they go over regarding blood clots in the hospital. Any suggestions? |

| Super Moderator | How's your water intake? Your salt balance in the whack can cause it to, but in any case, ask your surgeon. If it's a clot, sometimes, you can see changes in the color of your skin because of the blood not going any further--turns purplish.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | My water is getting better, I think I made it to 50oz yesterday! That was an accomplishment for me. I don't believe that it is a clot, my husband is just a father goose (mother hen). |
