Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Awww, (((((((HUGS)))))))) Thank goodness your sis knew what to do.
Ashely, please don't let things go until it gets really bad.
You are still very early out, and still healing inside, so you need to sic your surgeon in on EVERYTHING no matter how small or how stupid it seems. As I wrote in another post in another thread of yours, if the staff try to get in your way, don't let them, be insistent until you can talk to him directly, or at least to another trained/licences medical staff.
It's fine to come here and ask Qs and share your experiences, but it's most important that whatever there is, your surgeon knows what's going on, and ultimately, he's the only person who can really be responsible for your care.

FYI: Sometimes, some types of laxatives make the pain worse if the constipation's been going on for some days. I think someone recommended smooth move tea somewhere, so you might give that a try.

Hope this never happens to you again.

Don't worry honey I had rectal surgery in 98 And I learned then that I take matters in hand on the first day if there is a problem. And don't let it upset you because every one has to go and if you don't believe me please believe me that rectal surgery is so much more embarrassing and if you think just being stopped up is painful try 18 stitches and 9 cauterizations. I woke up during the surgery and looked back and said OMG and looked at the anesthesia guy and said "Please for the love of God put me back to sleep" Swear hand to God on this one..lol.. I hope that helps you a little to know you are Deff not alone ..lolol... Fiber Fiber Fiber... and more Fiber hon....

Ashley,
Also remember you will not be going as often, possibly only 2 times a week because it's a case of ''amount in, amount out" so if you don't have a lot IN there will be a natural slow down of BM's.
--water water water will help keep things hydrated and moving slowly but surely.
Plus it takes a long time for the body to adjust to this new small amount of intake. So it seems sometimes that it almost goes to a near stand still for some! Plus as I'm sure you've figured out, gas hurts! Constipations hurts too but don't get overcrazy with things.
Eventually your body will figure out it's own schedule which might be one time a day or 2 times a week. Our surgeon's teaching staff taught that it's NOT uncommon to have only ONE bm a week post op for awhile.
Certainly you don't want to have PAIN from getting stopped up though!
I have certain area that if I have the torsion thing going AND a really solid BM going then I have a LOT Of cramping and pain until it goes through that area of the intestine. It's a part of my pelvis that is very very tender from the PT we're doing and so often that area gets a lot of inflammation.

hey...I can't tell you how many many many posts I have read through the last 6 years about "omg! I'm constipated!!" But it's totally normal to have a slow down. You are not ever going to have BM's like you did pre op or nearly as often as long as your intake stays small and mainly protein.

--hang in there girly girl! YOu are doing so GOOD!!--

Oh Honey we are two sisters in this because I have had the exact same problems. 1st with the pain of the incision site and now this. Can I recommend something? Its called Miralax it is sold over the counter, you mix it with water or wjatever you are drinking it has no taste. Within 24 hours you will have a bowl movement with no stomache cramps. My surgeon recommended it at the last appointment because of my issues. I also have hemmoroids and when you dont have a BM for a few days it plays HELL with them, anyways know you arent alone in this. We are two Sistas in all this

Ashely, I didn't mean that you weren't doing as instructed. What I meant was that from time to time, the instructions drs give you may not be enough for the particular situation, as people differ, and a lot of things are often done on a case by case basis, so if you don't feel well because of one thing or another, call 'em up for additional instructions just in case.
And as I said, your surgeon should know what was the worst stuff for you, so he can keep an eye on it in the future, as well as watch out for his other patients.
Also, even though most cases are not, constipation is one of the symptoms of bowel obstruction when that issue is there, so, if laxatives don't work, and the pain gets worse, you do need to keep that caution in the corner of your mind.
Best to be safe than sorry.
I hope you're feeling back to your normal self for this stage, this morning.

well here is my update! The constipation last night was unreal. When you have to resort to littlerly pulling it out! I know gross but you have to do what you have to do and thank God my sisters a nurse because the same thing i had to do is the same thing they would have done at that Hospital. Drinking all of your water is great to keep yourself hydrated I drink all of my water and then some. This was a direct case do to the addition of the IRON in my medication plan. Stiff, Tar like bowals is a side effect of this. Do to this i will be uping my colase untill my body and get used to the new pill. I think alot of the abdominal pain and gas in my intestines was do to this almost plug like being in there I was not aware of how bad it was do to the fact sence surgery I was only going to the rest room every fue days so i was not alarmed in the begining. I called out of work today Because i have a bit of disconfort and I upped my pills and i took MOM just to make shore everything is clean so i would be more confertable at that house if anything should happen. MY body and health come before my job. I just thought i would update ya thanks have a great day
