Well, I did it, I tossed my cookies for the first time. Ewwwww, I hate throwing up! Sometimes I forget that I even had surgery, I think. Tonight I sat down with as piece of chicken anmd took a mormal bite and didn't chew it until it was much. Immediately after swallowing I realized I didn't chew it to death. Yep, about thirty seconds later came the pain in my chest, it was stuck and it hurt!! I broke out in a sweat and staerted pacing the floor hoping it would go away. No such luck! Pretty soon the mouth started watering and up it came, what a relief!! I am 4 weeks out today and chicken just doesn't sit too well. I tried it once before and it got stuck too, not like this time, but it was uncomfortable for a few minutes. I have pretty much been able to eat anything else I have tried, but I am not very hungry ever. I eat a lot of yogurt mostly. I don't like to cook much and am a bit afraid to try different things. Good thin I like yogurt, huh? I know I am not getting my protein in so I ordered some of those bullets others on here were talking about. I am thinking this is why I don't seem to be losing as fast as others are. My doc says that I can now take my vitamins, etc, without chewing them. They seem kinda big, so I haven't done it yet. I know I will be better about taking them when I don't have to chew them, they all taste nasty to me. I have missed takng them several times and I know it is important. Does everyone else take the pills whose after 4 weeks?

I Still Chew Mine Vitamins. When You Eat Chicken The Bite Sizes Should Be Sooooooooooo Smalll, Like The Almost Smaller Than The Size Of Your Finger Nail, At Least That What I Do And Then Chew Chew Chew. Also What Might Help I Usually Make It With A Gravy Or Like In A Stew. Last Night I Made Chicken And Cooked It With A Can Of Stewed Tomatos. Yeah I Eat Loooooooooots Of Yogurt Also. Lol |

awww sorry you puked. i had a HORRIBLE time with chicken at 4 weeks. in fact i couldnt eat it until i was almost 3 months without problems. there was a period in there where i was forgetting to take the darn vitamins too because i hated the taste. chewale bitter orange YUCK. i can admit it. DOC PLEASE DONT YELL AT ME. but i got back on track with that as well once i was able to use the regular pills. this all takes some settling into. i can TOTALLY relate to your not chewing good and then the lump and then the upchuck. i know it all too well. and i havent puked from not chewing in a while. you'll get used to it be careful aout the protein. you need it to heal. you also need it so that your body doesnt "eat" your muscle to stay alive. remember it thinks its starving and will do whatever necessary to keep itself alive. so stay up on the protein as much as possible. do you like beans? you could puree or mash them. just an idea... |

oh yeah boots is right. if you cook the chicken in something or stew it down, put it in a crock pot and crock the life out of it, it will help.

I use the baby spoon too. I also use the little seafood forks. It helps me take the smaller bites. I haven't tried chicken yet. Just the chicken in the chicken cream soups.

Right Now For The Second Time Im Eating 75% Lowered Fat Sharp Cheddar Cheese. Made By Cabot. Its A Small Block. I Cut It Paper Thin And I Mean So Thin You Can Almost See Thru It!!!!!!!!! And I Take Baby Bites. Its Sooooooooooooooo Good I Never Ate A Cheese So Low In Fat That Tastes So Good!!!! There Are A Few Others On Here That Eat This Cheese Thats Where I Got The Idea From. And You Get 9 Grams Of Protein From Just 1 Ounce, 60 Calories And 2.5 In Fat. Try It But Remember Cut It Paper Thin Till You Almost Can See Thru It And Take Baby Bites And Just Bite Till It Liquidfys. Great Source Of Protein |
