I'm so sorry about what you're going through. I'm a asthmatic and I have taken prednisone for the last 16 years. That's the main reason I had the surgery.

I know, I got Bells Palsey as a teenager and they put me on it for 2 or 3 months and I know tht I had gained about 60 lbs. I was eating everything that didnt belong to anyone else.

Well ladies Thank God I had only gained 1 pound. What a big weight off my shoulders. Thank you so much for your support. I was almost in tears when I had to get on that scale. I am shocked it only said one pound. I swear i was eating my food and everyone else's. I tried to keep it healthy but sometimes the healthy stuff didn't hit that spot. Anywho, I should know my date by the end of next week. So my day ended on a good note. Again THANK YOU!!!!! I also, told my nutrionist about this site. She is going to spread the word around. I told her how wonderful you all have been.

I too gained a ton of weight from Prednisone. I have horrible psoriatic arthritis and in the past several years have been on steroids many, many times. I never had a weight problem until this wonderful, horrible drug. I love how it practically eiminates the pain, but the side effects are horrible. On the flip side.........I am now on Enbrel twice a week and it helps the pain.....not like the prednisone, but it makes it bearable. Hopefully when I get this weight off the pain will lessen and I can get off the narcotics too. My doctor told me when I had the surgery that I can no longer take Prednisone or Motrin (which I miss terribly, I think Motrin is the best drug!), because it is so hard on the stomach. Thankfully, I can still get the steroid injection s in my joints as needed though. They are wonderful, and I tell my Rheumatologist that I am a steroid junky! So depending on your doc, you may not ever have to worry about the weight gain from it again. Unfortunately, that may not b duch a good hing, depending on why you take it. Keep your chin up!!~
