Default 2 week check up

Okay, so my two week check up was Wednesday and I have barely been able to stay online to post today. The doctor said that everything seems to be going well and healing. I have lost about 20 lbs and the scale seems to be content there for the time being, but oh well. Eventually it will move down again. I am going to temporarily ban myself from weighing myself except on Tuesdays for now. The every day thing is not good for my psych. I had a really big burst of energy earlier this week, but now I am not as energetic and have a hard time with motivation right now. I will probably get out and go to the gym this afternoon while my daughter naps and my hubby is asleep. I get to start purees tomorrow and I am excited about it. Well, there is my update folks. Enjoy.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Janae, thank you for updating us.
Sooo glad to hear your dr's given you the go ahead.
Yep, scales can be evil, staying away from them while staying on track with your eating is better for your psych. 20lbs in 2 wks means 10lb per week!! That sure is a great job!!
Keep up the good work, ((((((HUGS)))))) and blessings to you!

PILLOWS? glad ur 2 week exam went well.
BUTA i have to add hear? you are cleared for the gym?
I didnt have clearance for gym for 3 months. WHILE healing
you can easily cause a hernia. JUST cause there is no
pain ur are still healing alot internally. I was mostly
advised to walk at first.
ALL the best and plz dont over do at the gym!
AS for the scale yes it is bad for the pscy to check
every day. I have been a scale addict and now as of
late im not watching it as much being its moving a bit
slower and it helps!
ALL the best

pillows - wow 20lbs in two weeks is so awesome, it's like a dream. i'm so glad everything is healing nicely. i would be a little extra careful at the gym like friend mentioned, wouldn't want to have to go in for repairs so soon. did you ever think there would be a day when you would be excited about eating pureed foods?, or when you want to call yourself a loser and feel good about it?
as for the scale thing, the only place i can go to get weighed here in town is at the fitness club. i've found a couple of scales that i could buy that go to my weight but after thinking about it and discussing it with roo i've decided to wait till i get to the weight regular scales go to, since i'll be losing lots soon (i hope), and then i can buy one for 20 bucks instead of over 100. my last scale saw me coming a few years ago and ran away
it's great to hear your doing so well, keep us updated ok?

when people used to ask me how much I weigh and I told them I didn't know, they would look at me funny, but I honestly would go a year without weighing myself a lot of times. I just told them that I was afraid of heights...hehehehe. I am kinda worried about the whole overdoing it thing, but my nutritionist said that I need to be constantly increasing my activity and didn't seem as impressed by my three miles the Monday before as I was. I guess that it kinda made me feel depressed like I wasn't doing as good as I thought I was and that I need to do more. I did notice my breathing becoming hard for a little while on the eliptical when I tried it, but I slowed down and got it back under control. It took a lot of restraint not to check the scales today, but I managed it. Afterall, Tuesday is not too far away and hopefully I can report some more loss by then.

Janae....
I think you are doing FANTASTIC!! WOW...3miles...that is amazing. YOU ARE AMAZING!!
I think 20# in two weeks is super...and I hope I can compete with that!! Were you on liquids for two weeks?? My doctor has me on purees starting week 2...which is tomorrow for me... what did you do?

I go for my one week visit on Thursday to get my staples out...I hope I'll get to weigh that day...we'll see. I meet with my hospital's post-op liaison about my diet tomorrow....I'll be interested in all I hear.

Thanks for all your posts...
Talk to you soon,
Deborah~

That's what I was wondering? when can we start going to the GYM post-op?? I asked my doc the other day can I start walking on the treadmill at home? he said no! I think your talking it to far Pillows. I heard Yoga is really good for losing weight as well. why don't you try that? I wouldn't imagine that it's unsafe.
Honey, don't be obsessed of how much you loose and whether your weight is plateaued or not. just enjoy the new life style we optted to chose!!!
Have you ever imagined pre-op with mornings when you step on the scale after you had what you had on last night dinner and you're still losing?? noway!!
It'll go eventually I know how all of us had suffered from being obese and we wanna do it AFAP. I know exactly how it feels.
My heart is with you :~)

pillow funny how people react to our obese weights. i've told a few people and gotten responses like "no way" "your joking right?" like i would lie about my weight, well i might lie but it wouldn't be to increase my weight it would be to make me lighter than i actually am. Funny but this is the only place,(other than the dr. and nutritionist) where i have admitted my weight and not been weary of the response i will get.
As for being depressed because the nutritionist wasn't impressed with your progress and interest, try not to be. I know these people are trained to work with the obese and help guide them through weight loss but unless they have been obese and have had wls then i don't think they totally understand what obstacles we have to hurdle. They love holding out the flaming hoops but trying to get them to jump through them is kinda like me trying to tie my shoes, aint gonna happen.(hehe)
You are doing so well and i look forward to hearing your progress
thank you for sharing

Thanks everyone. I have done decent by going to the gym twice so far, but haven't gone back since Monday due to my trying to increase my fluids again before working out hard. The last time I went though I managed 4.25 miles on the bike and 1.75 miles on the eliptical. I had some bad queasy and puking episodes Tuesday so I am trying to rehydrate what I lost, but hope that my planned Saturday excursion with Jolie will help count as excersise... hehehe. We both agree that Saturday workouts should be mall or flea market walking. We have a great flea market here nearby and I love to go and see what kind of deals I can get. Besides there is a guy that sells Atkins products for pretty decent there. I am always on the lookout for the Fisher Price Little People and accessories. I am talking about before they had hands. I kinda collect. Thanks for all of the support and concern.

pillows sorry to hear about the quesy and puking moments. does this happen very often? do you know what caused it for you? what other things might cause such reactions? or is it just a natural outcome while your body heals itself.
your doing great on the excercise, shopping and flea market (and in the summer yard sales) is a great way to get lots of walking done. i can't wait till i can do that again (soon)
keep up the good work and keep us posted,
maybe we'll see you in chat soon? or have i been just missing you?
