Being at various stages of this process, I am sure we've all had different experiences; some good, some not so good. At this point in your journey, if you knew then what you knew now, what would you change?

For me, I would have taken an extra 6 month pre-op to go thru psych treatment.

HMM WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS IVE HAD I STILL DONT KNOW IF I WOULD OF CHANGED ANYTHING. WHEN I WANT SOMETHING REAL BAD IM VERY DETERMINED TO GET IT DONE. LIKE WHEN I MADE THE DECESION TO GO THRU WITH THIS I WAS SO DETERMINED I MADE SURE I FOUND DOC'S THAT WOULD SEE ME RIGHT AWAY FOR CLEARANCE. AND BECAUSE I DID THAT IT ONLY TOOK 5 WEEKS FROM THE DAY I MADE THE DECESION TO GO THRU WITH THIS SURGERY SEE THE SURGEON FOR CONSULTATION, THE CLEARANCES AND THEN THE SURGERY.

WHEN I WANT SOMTHING I GO ALL THE WAY. BUT DONT GET ME WRONG I DID RESEARCH AND THINK ABOUT THIS FOR ALMOS A YEAR.

I JUST HOPE I DIDNT MAKE THE WRONG DECESION. YES I HAD ALOT OF BUMPS THRU THIS SHORT JOURNEY BUT I KNOW THEY ARE JUST ABOUT BEHIND ME NOW AND IT SHOULD BE SMOOTH SAILING AFTER MY NEXT DIALATION. (cross fingers) LOL

But I Never Knew That It Was Covered By Insurance Till I Saw Advertisments. Years Ago I Used To Say I Cant Afford That

i knew i just thought, or doubted for a long time that i could get it approved. my best friends mom and sister had this done 5 years ago. in fact they were in the hospital together.

I guess I would say the same thing Jill said. Why didnt I do this sooner. I feel so much better and Im doing so much more. Today I went with my family and we went up to the Adirondack Mountains and I climbed a mountain. It was about 3 miles up an and back and I got a great work out. I never would have done that before surgery. I felt so good to be able to go up with the rest of them. In the past I would have waited at the bottom till they all did it. So yes I would say I wish I did this sooner than this year.

For me 5 years ago I knew insurance covered it and I knew I could get it done but I talked myself out of it and wasted 5 years. I am happy however that I have had it done here in Hawaii at the bariatric clinic I am going through because the follow up care is amazing I see my psycologist monthly for 5 years.
