Question All that old baggage....

Hello everyone! I haven't been on the board for awhile. Lots of stuff going on in my life. New job, new home, both boys starting college....

Anyway, I need the advice of you seasoned veterans, and would like input from DocSanae.

I am 10 months post GBS and have actually surpassed my goal weight. The problem I am having is this:

It's amazing how all the "old baggage" from all those failed wt loss attempts follow you even on this journey! I have lost enough weight in my view, but am so afraid of GAINING wt, that I don't eat what I am supposed to eat!
I know that this is not healthy, but the old thought processes kick in and I fall back into those same old self-destructive habits. I'm not sure how to deal with this.
Is this unusual? How do I stop this?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Tammy, you are quite normal.
Losing weight is one thing. Changing how your brains work around this is another thing.
If you haven't yet, I seriously suggest you think of getting therapy, it's not going to be easy trying to figure this out by yourself, it would be better if you could connect with a pro to guide you through this process.

Also, Michael has just put up a blog feature in this board, so if you have never tried it, journalising this journey will help you put some, if not many, things into perspective.
The deets of the blog is in this post.

Thanks DocSanae, I knew I could count on ya to help me out!

I have sought help with this through the GBS support group that my surgeon hosted but they quit having them due to low turnout. I've never really considered professional therapy, although that is an interesting thought. Hmmmm......very interesting.....I'll consider it.
I believe the blog idea might help as well. I had tried that in the past and just kind of quit. Perhaps I'll give it another shot.

Thanks again Doc!

Default Hi Lisa!

Hello Lisa! Thanks for the encouragement. DocSanae is right, it's harder to change the way you think than changing your body, sometimes!
BTW, you look great!
