| Friendly2 reminder to all .....
FOR the new bariatric patient, you will most likely not feel true hunger for
several months. IT is important to eat as directed by your surgeon even
when you might not be physically hungry!
and a tip for those further out:
ASK yourself when you eat : "Is this true hunger or is this head hunger"? and if the answer is head hunger try to change your environment, thoughts, activities or situation! TAKE a short time-out and gain control!
HOPE this helps everyone

| Thanks Lisa... Thanks Lisa.... Every nugget you say is such a wonderful piece of treasure. Thanks for sharing everything. I am a reality TV junkie - along with not being able to live without my TIVO. My husband fondly calls me, "Queen La Tivo...." I love the show called "Stating Over"....there are 2 girls on it at present who have had gastric b ypass.....I love to watch it because it deals with their 'body image' for one, and the other is creating a new view herself after WLS. It is very interesting and follows very healthy pricipals... Does anyone else watch it?? |

| Thanks Lisa... I love hearing your wisdom... I think I need to deal with my head hunger...I am chewing very well...but think I am eatting too much. I always feel stuffed. How much solid - well mashed/puree should I be eating at this stage...I am one week post op. They told me 4-6oz of liquid...but I don't know how that translates now that the food is more solid...do you know?? |

According to my nutritionists guidelines for the puree stage, I should eat UP TO 4 oz six times a day. That doesn't mean that I am usually able to eat that much, if I do, I tend to regret it. Don't bite off more than you can chew has renewed meaning for me right now. IMO don't go with the philosophy of don't eat if you aren't hungry, but do NOT eat if you feel full. I made the mistake a few times of eating simply because it was time even though I was still full from the last "meal" and it ended badly. Good luck adjusting.

Good advice thank you I am having a little trouble with that right now but trying to do spring cleaning to keep busy and not eat when it isn't truly hunger.

I am hanging in there okay. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I am trying to concentrate on getting a lot done around here. I am trying to merge my eating and drinking habits with my old life and feeling normal, whatever that is. I just took a Tension headache pill and am really hoping that it works and kicks in soon. Another tricky thing about not eating when it isn't truly hunger is that you don't want to wait until you are starving or REALLY hungry since you don't tend to make the best decisions that way.

| I think the merge of eating/drinking with the "OLD LIFE"....is going to be tough... I'm still concentrating on trying to get all my foods, mainly proteins....and liquids. I'm soooo glad to hear that I'm not the only one dealing with all of this. It's a new transition...and wow...I just didn't expect it to be this way...but, in a weird way I love it! Thanks for sharing Janae... |
