Fr1endly Lisa...Where on Long Island do you live?? I know a lot of you live in the NYC area...where?? Don't forget to do the poll ABOVE...thanks!

We are getting ready to move to that area in early July...my hubby is going to Optometry school in Manhatten in August. We are relocating from TX.

I think we are going to look in Brooklyn area...we'll see.
We are selling both our cars...and have downsized our possession almost beyond belief to fit in a small apt. There is just us, and our 3yr old daughter - Isabella.

Deborah i cant wait till you get here! I really dont know brooklyn too well but when you do find something you are interested in let me know and i do have friends that know the outer boroughs well. I reside on the east end of LONG ISLAND, i really dont use the
train system, but if I drove from my house to Manhattan i would
leave myself about an hour to do the drive!
THIS is exciting news to hear your comeing to NY!

Lisa...
My husband, Russ has been going to school doing his pre-med work for the last 4 yrs...and working full time to boot! His goal is to be a doctor of Optometry.
So, because there are only 16 Optometry schools around the US, we just decided where we might have a fun 5 yr. adventure...and we love the city...so NYC it is!
We came to NYC last May to see the optometry school...and scout the boroughs to see where we might live if we were to come to there for Russ' school. We really liked Brooklyn... and a lot of the areas around Prospect Park...so that is where we are looking.
I've been a designer of Women's Apparel for the last 14yrs... I don't know what might pan out...but, I will be excited to see how things go...for my career. I'm hoping that I can do some freelance the first couple of yrs...and then work when my kitten goes to kindergarten.
Hope I will meet you sometime...you are such a HUGE inspiration. Well, You're not huge anymore....but the mountain you climbed was....congrats on your success...I'm glad you are on this board!

WOW debrah this sounds like such an exciting time!

child is 3 1/2 and i have a 9 year old and 11 year old.

I live in McGuire AFB, New Jersey and when I go to NYC it is by train from the Hamilton train station. That is so cool that you design women's apparel. I love clothes. I can't wait to have to go shopping this summer.
