Age 13. Hawaii needs to get up to speed I think. But you know states differ in laws. I think there should be one law for all states regarding this. In Virginia you have to be 18 to get married or have your parent sign that you can. I know the law differs for boys here its 16. Its a good thing hes not had much contact with his children until now. Can you imagine what could have happened if he did and let this go on? Again Kim thanks for being there for your niece.

I, ah, 13?!!! Really?! Who the heck decided that 13 was old enough?! I mean, 13 is medically still considered puberty--some girls don't even start seeing TOM till later than that-- or has pediatrics changed there, I'm gonna have to dig up a Pediatrics textbook and look it up.

By no means is this going to be dropped. I am going with them on Monday after I get out of work and we are going to try to push this! I never thought about the FBI...that is something to look into. Thanks!! About all I can do is push this along since I am not the legal guardian and they didnt even want to talk to me. I am in the process of getting this guys last name so that I can get some copies of his "history" to take with us to the States Atty. Dad will not be seeing the kids again unless he comes to their house by himself since the kids want to know him. Like I said, it has been about 15 years since they have had any contact with him and they are "getting stuff from him now", so they definately want to keep in contact with him (they just started talking to him this year!). As for the gf...I just hope that she doesnt shop at the same stores as I do! LOLOL

Thanks Ladyhawk...that is on the list of people to call. I wish that there was more that I could do but because I am not her legal guardian, my hands are tied. This sucks! I agree that the laws need to be reviewed with each and every state. Our kids need protection whether they are 13 or not!

Kim, just want to make sure you let your neice know that this is not her fault that the guy was the one in the wrong. I am sure you know that sometimes kids seem to blame theirselves for an adults misbehavior. Especially when law enforcement blow them off in a situation like this.
