Kim...I am about to share some pretty personal stuff...I just want to tell you that when I was a teen I wish I had an aunt like you when I was a teen. When I was 15 I had a huge crush on a friend of my dads, well he was 27....needless to say being that I was a teen and thought I was in love I started "seeing" this guy...sex was all it was in reality. We kept it a secret from my dad but all my aunts on my Moms side new about it and did NOTHING. We continue this for 3 years until I was 18 when he dumped me for my best friend who was 23...they eventually got married...I was devistated and didnt realize until I had my own child that this was molestation. I wish my family had stepped in and done something for me back then, even if I was in "LOVE" with this guy...I realise now it wasnt love...anyways thank you for being the role model your niece and nephew needs |

Oh Becka...I am so sorry that you had to go thru that. I know that all girls end up with a "crush" on someone like that, but it is up to the "adult" to be the responsible one in that situation. Thank you for sharing a story like that...I know it must have been hard to let out. This is hard for anyone and everyone involved. I am actually going to go in fora few hours today and go pick them up. Mom is really going crazy over this because she felt like she wasnt there to protect the kids and let them go meet dad against her better judgement. As for me not being able to do anything...I meant that all I can do is support,since NO ONE will even begin to talk to me about it. Mom is there standing up for her kids, but I just want to be able to do more. She was really young when she had them and I was there. I think that I kept them more than the parents did when they were little. The step dad is right there by their side ready and willing to do anything to protect "his" kids. By no means are they sitting by and sweeping it under the rug. I am just the type of person who can take control in a bad situation where some can not and I feel like I want to be doing more than just standing behind them. Hopefully something will come out of today with everyone's advice. They want to get her in to see a counselor as she is really having a hard time with this. The whole story got even deeper over the weekend. Apparently my nieces boyfriend has been trying to contact her all week and the dads gf told him that she was off with her new bf and didnt want anything to do with him anymore. THis "lady" is close to 50!!! She needs some real help too. I think that they are going to push for somehting with her as well. I think that they both need to be locked up. I will let you know how it goes this afternoon. |

Ok, we went to the States Atty and they are going to open an investigation into this with the help of Childrens Service. Finally someone is taking this as serious. This guy has quite a few things against him and they dont want to let it slide. I am so happy! They requested a restraining order and trespassing warrant since he knows where they live and are going to try to get the $$ for it back from him when and IF it goes to court! They really made my niece feel at ease when they talked to her today and reinforced the fact that she did everything right and he was completely inthe wrong. That is it for now, I guess that we wont know anythign more until they finish with their investigation. Thank you all so much for taking the time to let me vent and being there! You guys are my family and I value each and every one of your opinions and input. ((((HUGGGGS))))

Thank goodness things have been set on the right track. I'm sure your neice will come out a stronger and finer person for this, such experiences is excruciating, but set in the right context, will help you mature into a responsible adult. Becka, thank you for sharing what must have been a very painful experience for you. I take it the care of your Home Ec teacher you mentioned in another thread helped you in healing and maturing. How important it is to have caring adults for the welfare of children.
