Has anyone had a social drink occasionally? My doc told me that it is kay to have an occasional drink, but to be careful as one drink will have the effect of two and that it may make me dump depending on what I drink. I have never really been much of a drinker, only very occasionally, but my 30th high school reunion is next week and I would like to have a drink or two. I am a sissy and only drnk foo-foo (strawberrie daquiris, mudslides, etc,) because I don't like the taste of most alcohols. So what do you suggest?? I certainly do not want to dump, as I have never done that and never want to! Would Lite Beer be a good choice?? Yuk How about Vodka and cranberry juice? Any of your "expert opinions" would be welcome! Maybe I should just stay home or not have a drink. What do you guys think

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You have to keep in mind that alcohol will hit your blood stream and system much faster than pre op.
Your dr said twice, some drs say one glass for post ops is the same as 5 glasses for pre/non ops.

That said, stick to drinks with low alcohol content and try to keep it to one drink only.
And, as Becka said, do not make it a habit, keep it to the occasional social occasions. If it's a party that you can get away with not drinking at all, that's another choice, too. Not being able to drink alcohol doesn't mean that you can't have fun. Neither does not being able to eat mean that you can't have fun. They are all separate things.
So, go out and enjoy your reunion, seeing old friends and renewing your friendship may be much more fun than having a drink or two.

plus a warning
drinking and driving after this surgery is NOT a good idea

even if you "only had ONE drink" you can test much higher. This has happened to several posties I've known and they now have DUI charges on their records.

Like doc says it hits our bloodstream all at once and whammo! one=5 NOT a good plan

I think that fact right there scares the mess out of me! I am now the OFFICIAL dedicated driver with my friends and family if we are going out! I was not really a drinker before the surgery, but defiantely not now. LOLOL My husband works for Anheuser Busch and we continually get about 3 cases of beer a month for "safety points" and it goes straight out to the family! LOLOL They love us at cook outs!!!

I do allow myself a few occasional drinks. Again as with anything else in our lives....moderation is key. And absolutly no drinking and driving surgery or no surgery! I have something my friend made for me so i could join in at parties. Rasberry or Fruit punch crystal lite with vodka.....I dont dump. We are adults and as long as we are careful and responsible I dont see a problem. Now if your someone who thinks just one or two drinks will cause you issues then be careful. I drink a few sips and boy am i buzzed.
With my crazy life and 4 kids sometimes i just need it.

I love the occassional Patron Margarita, I would only have 1 pre-op and surprisingly I don't feel a difference at all when i drink them now.
