| Well, I know from reading the posts that everyone is different, but I have a question about something that I am very nervous about. My surgery is scheduled for 9/28/07 and I have to begin my 10 day liquid diet tomorrow. From the ones that were required to do the liquid diet before the surgery, how "tired and exhausted" do you get from doing the liquid diet? I mean do you feel like you can't function or are you just tired feeling but still able to work and stuff? Also, the same question as far as after having the surgery done and after you get home from the hospital? I just want to know what it's like as much as possible. I know I'll be sore and stuff like that after the surgery, but how "tired" do you feel? Thanks for all the help I can get!!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well, I was a bit tired in the beginning of my 2 week liquid diet. I lived off of Wonton soup (minus the wontons of course). I sipped on the broth all day practically! It did get much better on about the 4th day. As for the surgery, I was totally exhausted for about a week. I couldnt sleep at night at all, I just laid there every night with my back aching. I am a stomach sleeper, so it was kinda hard on me. I was up and walking every chance I got, and I never had any complications or gas problems. Like you said, we all are different, so we experienced things all differently. I wish you the best of luck!!! |

| Thanks for your reply. Again, I am very very anxious, but I just don't want it to seem "impossible" to even function from one day to the next.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I cant help you on the liquid diet part. I only had to do that for the day before surgery. But afterwards when I came home I didnt feel all that bad. I felt much better than I thought I would. I would cat nap in and out during the day. I was home from work for about 5 weeks. I was tired but not super tired. hard to explain. My doctor said that was to be expected for the 1st 6-8 weeks. And they were right, after that time period I was feeling much better. I was able to function and get my kids off to school and do laundry and all that stuff when I was home. Just kinda laid low and relaxed. Good luck with everything. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well, just keep it in your mind that you had MAJOR surgery. You need to have someone there helping you out in the beginning. I would not have made it if my husband hadnt take some time off with FMLA! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | GOOD LUCK WITH THE SURGERY. I HAD MINE IN BELGIUM 7 MONTHS AGO. I did not have any pre op diet. It seems to differ from US in that regard. I can appreciate the tiredness as post op I had moments of exhaustion but was back working as a paramedic within 4 weeks. Iive in Ireland and have just had the most fabulous weekend when Imet some friends i did not see since I lost over 100lbs.The health benefits are great but their reaction to how I look now gave me the confidence boost I needed.I have a long way to go yet but its all so worth it. My advice to you would be to follow the diet plan and take your time.... it took us more than one year to gain the weight so have the surgery ( I call mine my rebirth day) and every day after that will bring you closer to your goal with renewed energy and zest for life. |

| Thanks for the encouragement. I woke up this morning actually a little excited about starting the liquid diet today. Now, tell me that makes sense. I guess it's because I know it's the last process I have to do to get ready for surgery. I am determined to do this. The count down is on. 10 days of liquid dieting and then my big day!!!! Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I am so looking forward to being able to join the loser's bench. I know that will start during these 10 days even before surgery.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Although i didn't have the liquid diet before surgery, I admit the first week out of surgery I was very, very tired. However, I was back to work after only two weeks (part time for the first week, then full time) and I did have to fight tiredness for a while, but that is probably because I had to go back to work so soon after the surgery. You'll do great and I look forward to seeing you on the loser's side. R-Bren |

| Thanks Bren. I will be like you. Assuming all goes well with the surgery, I plan on coming back to work in two weeks. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again.
