Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | the day started off foul for me needless to say when i got there i was NOT a happy camper. he refuses to give me the darn b12 shot he did my bloodwork and said that I was in the normal range but fails to realize that i am in normal range BECAUSE he's been giving me the shot all this time. UGH! he said i should wait til a year out to consider shots...i talked to him about the not being able to get to sleep and what not. he seems to think I dont need a script for this. that everything will level off. I kind of agreed with him on this. i am not fond of the idea of taking a sleeping pill with a small child in the house. kayla could literally burn my house down and i'd never know... we talked about the mood swings. while he did say it was normal within the first year, he refered me to my GYN he wants me to "consider maintaining" once i lose another 15 lbs ![]() WHICH IS A CROCK. I dont get why everyone is pushing for 170-180. even my surgeon said the same thing. yes i am VERY comfortable where I am in terms of clothes and what not, but as long as I am not starving myself, and my labwork is good why cant I shoot for lower? I dont get what the problem is...150 is my goal and I'm stickin to it unless of course my body has other plans. but its way to early to even know that. isnt it???other than that everything is fine. i weighed in at his office at 193 ![]() we argued about the maintenance thing. to be honest, i refuse to agree with 180 lbs as a goal weight. NO WAY. not even the 170's NO NO NO! I'm a bit grumpy, I apologize. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Im so sorry your day was bad. Sometimes I think the Dr.s dont see our point or they forget was exactly they have been doing for us before. Not good. I think what ever you and your body think is a good HEALTHY weight is fine. Yes, sleeping pills are not a good thing with kids in the house. My husband sleeps thru anything so Im the one to hear our 4 kids. THis is what we are hear for to help each other and sound off. I hope you have a better day.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | they tried to make her go to REHAB..she said NO NO NO....kenya dear, you crack me up!!!! Actually, you and I have the same goal weight, but I'm willing to sacrifice mine...if I get to 160 and like it and feel good, I may be pursuaded to re-think. I'll have to wait and see what 160 feels like!! On the sleeping thing, have you tried Tylenol PM? I don't use these often, but ever so often, it works. I've also used AMBIEN before and I swear by it (they gave it to me last year when my mom passed away). I understand your concerns though with a smaller child in the house! The OB/GYN may not be a bad idea, as hormones can easily contribute to mood swings. Perhaps if you don't want BC, you could try over the counter natural estrogens. I'm on Hormone replacement therapy (since the hysterectomy), and sometimes, natural estrogens help level me out. It's a thought..... I will tell you, I have been using sublingual B12....and it's help my energy level a ton. You can buy these right over the counter at any drugstore. I got a whole bottle from Walmart for like $4. Keep the faith girl....you are doing great!! |

| Sorry, Kenya, you had a bad day. Those doctors sometimes forget that we are the ones that have to be happy with our own bodies as long as it's healthy. I agree with you. Go for your goal weight. I hope you get to feeling better and I hope you have a better day.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Girl, I am so sorry about today! You need to start looking for that PCP as soon as you can. I will not see a PCP if they are not sympathetic...I am sorry, I go to them for a reason and want someone to try to understand me, not just brush me out the door. Like I have said before, it took me about 10 years to find mine and if he does retire, I will be knocking on his door at home! LOLOL |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i was using the sublinguals which did absolutely nothing for me LOL. so HE (the dr) put me on the shots *slaps head* on a side note, the weight goal thing is TOTALLY a control issue. i mean going into this i was a control freak to begin with...or a wanna be one. i mean think about it, we eat because we lack control in certain situations, and then we cant control how much we eat etc. the whole thing, the "disease" the addiction is a control thing. and setting is a goal is the ONE THING, i should be allowed to do here. it shouldnt be up to someone outside of me. how i feel, how comfortable I AM in my skin and in my clothes, is mine alone. i dont like that he's trying to take that from me. the whole may he approached it was just wrong. he said, "you need to" as opposed to "why dont we think about..." etc. i am a stickler for tone and the way in which people approach me. maybe im just too sensative. |

| Super Moderator | The gyn thing is, as Trulykath says, to stabilize some the hormones that are running wild to help with the mood swings. As for the surgeon and PCP's goal weight, I can understand where they come from, 170-180 will put your BMI around 25 or so, which is just within the range of overweight, just above normal. 150 will put your BMI at 22, which is the median for your height, but in regards to what is medically considered sucessful weight loss, is a low number as goal. Pushing there may push you into anorexia, which is not so good. If you think it's a control issue with you, it may just be that they see it in you, and are trying to tell you that fixiating on that number will do you more harm than good. Numbers are just numbers, in a way, and if you decide on a certain number, that may stress you out major, not right now, but when you are close to it. May I suggest, instead of fixing your goal at a certain weight, why not fix your goal at a certain clothes size? You said that you tried the point out who is the same size as you, and you were surprised at the person who was pointed out to you. Since you're in 10 now, go for an 8 or 6. I think one size down at that number is approximately 5 lbs per size, but the number may be larger but no more than 10lbs. If you calculate from this, at approx 190, you're in size 10, minus 40 lbs means minus 8 sizes, that would put you in a -6 size In the end, it's all an image thing, and where you feel comfortable at, so it is for you to decide where you want to be, and what you want to do, though. As for the VB12 shots, hmmm...what about asking for a script for the oral spray (not nasal) that MsVickie mentioned in her thread. VB12 deficiency does take some time before showing up, so, it is better to be safer, so if you feel uncertain with the sublinguals, you need to try an alternate medication. However, if your fatigue doesn't return after being taken off from the shots, then once the level got up with the shots, it may be that the sublinguals are enough now to keep the level up, now that you are further out, and your body is adjusting and its ability to absorb the needed nutritents are slowly recovering. Okay, time to get off my soap box. Anwho, the most important thing is, your PCP appt has NOT turned up any real major medical issue that needs immediate attention, and you are doing fine, so far. (((((HUGS)))))

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | well i back you hundred percent no sleeping scripts with kids in the house. I am telling you those ambien products put you out and u wont remember any wakeings next am. GOOD friend of mine got hooked on that stuff and had many episodes of not remembering things in the am if woke for a phone call, child need nothing. SO not good idea ...... as for the b12 usually my surgeon writes me a script to have my regular pcp give if i wanted. SORRY he is being soo most doctors are clueless for gastric patients. BUT if u bring the instruction from the surgeon on a script paper it removes the hassle. as for the weight loss number ......i guess you will know when your happy. AND see what happens. hugs PS: mood swings will continue past year one they have for me and lets see im well over 2 years now and still moody!!!! just my experience maybe others out further can help ya there some
