Im all for it. I take trazodone for sleep. I have been taking it for about 3 years. I have terrible insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks (along with other things). I would go weeks on about 2 hours a night. So for me its great. I sleep through the night and wake up with no hangover feeling. My husband is always here but i have no trouble waking up when my daughter needs something. i tried ambian and it did not work for me. I guess i needed something stronger. I have noticed that since my surgery it hits me fast. So i have to take it right when i am ready to sleep. i dont look down on anyone that needs meds for sleep. its horrible going days without sleep.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Wow ladies I cant imagine not getting to sleep and/or only sleeping as few as 2 hours a night. I sleep like a baby now after sugery thankfully. Ocassionaly before sugery I would take a tylenol pm here and there and that would help. I feel for you ladies and hey what ever works best for each of you then I say go for it.

the insomnia issue is a prime issue for sure and YOU have to make the best decision on what works. Plus it sounds like you are making the best choice taking it only as needed ...

I use melatonin under the tongue regularly and Excedrin PM. But that isn't for everyone. I had to use this get my cycle changed for the 3rd shift and my kids are all older teens so I don't have to worry about small ones.

--{{hugs}}---
It is amazing what a good hard night's sleep can do for feeling great!

This is what my PCP suggested for me. They do put you to sleep as it does shut your brain down but there have been a few occasions where I have left evidence in the house that I was up. I do not remember being up. I have fixed a glass of chocalate milk and on another occassion had some peanut butter. I even put my unfinished chocalate milk back in the fridge. I live alone so i dont fear for anyones safety.....except mine if I decide to take ther truck for a drive. When you think about what state you must be in when you are sleepwalking like this is amazing. I am doing sort of intricate work. Open fridge, open cabinet for chocalte milk.....open another cabinset for glass and another one for the spoon. When these run out I think ill ask my doc for another suggestion,,,,,maybe some good old fashioned valiums.....wow man

If you have these experiences, then you need to tell the dr who gave you the script pronto. Not after you do something really dangerous.
There are plenty of med other than Ambien, so you need to talk this out with your PCP.
Hope you and your PCP can work out an alternate medication soon.

I take Ambien every night - 10 mgs and I get about four or five hours. Before, I was not sleeping. My kids call it my happy pill. For the first time in my life I can fall asleep. The only problem I had was when I awoke with a low blood sugar attack one night and was so groggy, I did not remember that I could not eat what I wanted. I ate too much too fast to bring up my blood sugar and ended up dumping. Other than that, I think it's a miracle pill for me.

Hope it works out for you -- Lorraine

I think if you need the help then get the help just as we do with any other problem we are having (ie even having wls, some people critcize us for choosing that option for weight loss). I personally take lunesta when I am having trouble, but like doc said there are different options to ambien if you are having a bad reaction with it. I support ya girl, I know what its like to go night after night with no sleep and I hope that you are soon able to get the right dosage regulated to offer you the most help.

Lisa I have taken it before and as long as I devote at least 8 hours of sleep, I am okay. If it's after a certain time I only take a 1/2 of pill. Everyone body is different. Benadryl does the same thing with me, after awhile it doesn't want to work. So, I leave it alone for a few days, struggle with sleep, then I take it again and it works.

Hi Lisa, I took Ambien for two years--on my doctors (2 of them) recommendation. I have Fibromyalgia and was unable to sleep for more than an hour or two most nights. I kept my husband up also, so he had to go sleep in another room--while most people are not or shouldn't be on it this long, both of the doctors felt it was necessary for me. I had to retrain my body to sleep, now I am happy to say I sleep like a baby with no sleeping pills. I never was addicted to them either--it truly was a blessing for me. Glad to hear you are finally getting some sleep.
