This kind of situation sucks, it's almost like a power play. Stay consistant and talk with her often. Tell her it's your job to make her miserable LOL - honestly she will thank you when she's older. I have always been open with my daughters but pretty strict. I have even had their friends tell me they wished I were their parent because I was a parent not a teen wanna be.

Oh Bren...I feel your pain! Been there and done that!! We actually did the drug testing every 28 days until there was a clean one! It was the most horrible feeling for all of us. I am praying that you are able to get a handle on this SOON.

Thanks everyone.. I'm so hoping this passes soon. Tonight she was made because I told her school she skipped and they gave her detention she thought i would lie for her..wrong. She is also upset that I called her work and told them she wouldn't be back until grades are up again. They really liked her and said they would give her a job back when her father and I thought it would be OK. For those of you with young children keep the lines of communications open!! I think that it might be happening right now. The night we found out everything I couldn't talk to her for awhile and sent her to her room but after I calmed down we were able to talk some.. just seems like she only listen's part of the time! |

WOW THAT SOUNDS SO SCARY. MY DAUGHTERS ARE 6 IN OCT. AND 2 IN FEB. SO I'M FAR FROM THERE YET. BUT I AM ONLY 23 AND IT WASN'T THAT LONG AGO THAT I WAS PUTTING MY FAMILY THROUGH THAT NIGHTMARE PROBABLY MUCH WORSE. THAT'S WHEN I GOT PREGNANT WITH MY FIRST DAUGHTER. JUST TALK TO HER OR AT LEAST TRY. TRY TO FIND OUT WHAT'S GOING ON IN HER HEAD THAT'S MAKING HER FEEL LIKE SHE NEEDS TO ACT THIS WAY. I MEAN U DEFINITELY HAVE TO BE STRONG AND FIRM AND CONSISTENT. BUT YOU CAN'T LOSE SIGHT OF THE FACT THAT HER FEELINGS RIGHT NOW ARE IN AN UPROAR AND SHE NEEDS SOMEONE TO CARE EVEN IF SHE ACTS LIKE SHE DOESN'T. MAKE SURE SHE UNDERSTANDS THAT THERE IS LIFE AFTER 16 AND SHE HAS TO PREPARE FOR IT. HOPE I COULD HELP. YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS!!

I know it's hard to be the bad guy but you also have to remember to let her know that you are there when she is ready to talk and you will listen and not be judgmental. My middle child my red head girl just turned 19 and left for collage this past month. And I am surprised at how much she calls me. She calls me to just talk about the crap going on with her and how hard it is for her right now. And she has said to me a few times now that just having me there to listen and not judge and just help was the best thing for her and it well made me cry but I couldn't let her see that..lol I had to be the strong one right..

Its really hard when they are at this age, because you are naturally "the enemy". Good for you Bren! The steps that you are taking now are gonna sting her NOW, but in the future, she is going to be thankful! We are finally at that point in life with ours. She couldnt wait to be an adult and get out on her own to make her own decisions, and now she sees that we were not trying to hurt her, but HELP her.
