Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass |  Not acid reflux but Air I saw my Dr. yesterday for my 3 month checkup. He was pleased with my progress but did say to drink MORE WATER. We discussed the taking pepcid before meals and tums afterwards, etc. I told him I burp a lot and he agrees it is not what I am eating but more the air I am swallowing. He said to try simethicone (mylacon) like we use for babies. I will get some after work today and I will let you know if it works. He said swallowing air is a big problem for a lot of WLS patients. So we shall see. Hoping this will help anyone else that may be experiencing the same problem. Mattie

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | He said it happens when some people eat and with the pouch so small WLS patients will have flatulence or burping. More have the flatulence. And when we drink we swallow air too even if we don't use a straw. He ask me if I chewed gum and I don't. I saw somewhere first starting out not to do that. SO I guess I am one of them to swallow a lot of air.
