About the only bread that bothers me is biscuits. As long as I eat all others in small portions I am okay. That is the problem though, I cannot stop at small portions with bread. Take my advice, don't test the waters, you are better off with out it than trying to withdrawl all over again.

My course notes say that later on, I can have a small piece of wholegrain toast. I'll miss bread for sure. I have always made my own - at least twice a week. Something about mopping up the gravy with a big chunk of bread and butter ..... sigh!

I LOVED bread, sourdough was my favorite!!! and I was able to pass it by at the shower along with the cake. Boy, I stood there as they were putting the food out on the table, and I am sure my eyes glazed over as if I were in love when I saw the basket of sourdough bread. I know my mouth watered, luckily I had just experienced my second foamy-pukey thing the nite before and I passed it up! Before I would have stood over the basket fending everyone off till I was done with it myself (just kidding)

I just went to my first big family dinner. As i ate my mush food i looked around the table and the only thing i missed was the bread. i love bread, i grew up with my mom making homemade bread, rolls, cinamin rolls. I guess it is a comfort food for me.

Kath I loved your story - My weakness has been San Francisco sourdough with lots of butter even when it gave me horrible heartburn. I also liked biscuits and gravy and english muffins - I miss sandwiches most of all but I also have this big fear of messing up my pouch or having something get stuck in there they have to remove and I have to explain how it got there lol. I am to the stage I can have crackers and melba toast but have been afraid to try them as yet - but I do like to go thru the store and smell fresh bread - I figure in a couple years a sandwich - my husband had his surgery 3 years ago the 12th of this month and eats bread without difficulty. I know there will just be certain things I am better without Judy

So....last night was the night...I sat bread on the counter...and I began. I told it not to take my disassociation personally; it was a health decision. Bread gave me the silent treatment in disdain, but I put up my hand, not ready to further defend my position. I know bread feels guilty & lost. I know bread was just doing it's thing, and I respect it for that. I informed bread that while we might forge a small friendship someplace down the road, it would never be the kindled love we once had for one another.....no more late night rendevous....no more potato chip sandwiches....or gravy boats.... I think bread will recover.....I told bread I would visit ever so often...and that we could still talk.....on occasion...... |
