WELL I TRIED A SMALL COOKIE ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND SO FAR SO GOOD. NO DUMPING OR ANYTHING. MY DAUGHTER IS HOME SICK TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME. SHE HAS NEVER BEEN SICK A DAY IN HER 16 MONTH LIFE NOT EVEN A RUNNY NOSE. SO TODAY SHE HAS A COLD AND A FEVER AND I WANTED TO MAKE HER SOMTHING SPECIAL TO GO WITH HER MILK THIS EVENING. SO I MADE HER A COOKIE THAT HAS A PUMKIN ON IT, YOU KNOW THE ONES IN THE DAIRY SECTION THAT ARE ALREADY PRE-CUT. I USUALLY NEVER LET HER HAVE THIS JUNK BUT LAST WEEK HER FRIEND CAME OVER FOR A PLAYDATE AND I MADE THESE FOR THEM. SO I HAD SOME LEFT OVER FROM LAST WEEK SO I PUT THEM IN THE OVEN AND DECIDED TO TRY ONE. BUT BEFORE I TRIED THEM I READ THE LABEL ON THEM TO MAKE SURE 1 COOKIE DIDNT HAVE 20 SUGARS OTHER WISE NO WAY WOULD I TRY IT. SO ONE COOKIE HAD 60 CALORIES, 3 FATS, 7 CARBS, 4 SUGARS AND OH YEAH 1/2 A PROTEIN. SO I FIGURED OK THAT IS NOT THE GREATEST BUT IT ISNT SO BAD AND AT LEAST IF I TRY ONE I WILL GET IT OUT OF MY SYSTEM. SO I REALLY DONT FEEL TO GUILTY AND HAPPY I STOPPED AT ONE.

BUT HERE IS THE THING ITS PRETTY SCARY TO KNOW I WAS ABLE TO HANDLE IT SO WELL. LOL LOL

Yeah, I just ate a 100 calorie pack of chocolate animal crackers. Why? I don't know. I just wanted some chocolate. And it scares me as well that I can eat them. It had 6 grams of sugar. But you know, Edie, in the old days, we would have eaten the whole box or carton sugar cookies.

well i dont know if you guys want to know this or not, but my surgeon told me that if i keep the sugars at 6g or less per serving i shouldnt dump. i dont know how true that is. but its worked for me so far lol. i think its higher for fructose or natural sugars. like 15g. so like apple juice or something with no sugar added, you could drink it and not dump. i think. i need to look thru my papers but i believe those are the ballpark grams

I've found the Murray's Sugar Free cookies (made with Splenda) -- I've got the Fudge Dipped Mint (taste like Thin Mints from Girl Scouts) they're 120 calories (for 4 cookies) and only 6 g sugar alcohols. I have them with a cup of non fat milk and it feels like such a special treat! I also have the fudge dipped graham crackers which are 140 Calories and 7g of SAs. But no dumping so far. I think its important for us to have some things in our daily diets that are just plain fun to eat. Like Breyers Sugar Free Ice cream -- I have the vanilla and its really good and I can't even eat an entire serving but I feel like I'm not being "denied" something and that I can still enjoy certain foods and yet not go overboard and still stick within my calories for the day and my nutrion requirements. And yes, reading labels has become a habit at the grocery store and in eating out!
