Unhappy Dang 'Puter Trouble.....

AARRRRRGGGGGG!!!
I booted up after dinner this evening, and oopsies.....
The screen went checkered on me, and methinks my home desktop is fried for the moment
Yuck. I had to make a quick run to retrieve the laptop I keep at the hospital, and until I get the desktop fixed, I'm going to have to lug this thing to and from work.
Since I had the same kind of troble before with another 'puter, I'm pretty sure it's just he LCD screen gone crazy, but if the system is fried, I'm gonna just cry, I'd neglected to backup for quite a while, bad me...

OK, just venting.
I'll be around plenty with my hardy laptop, so I won't go mia.

Have a lovely day, everyone.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

hey Doc, that sucks about the computer. Glad you have the laptop now, even if it is a bit uncomfortable to lug it around everywhere.
we have a laptop and i love getting on these boards and cruising and posting and everything from the comfort of my couch.
Hope you get your other puter up and working soon.

My laptop LCD screen went wako too hehehe is it a viral infection going on!!!! well I know computers can drive us crazy sometimes but the frequent backup is really important. I lost my data once and It's an ouch in the heart especially when you worked really hard to cmpose them.
I hope it's the screen and not the hard disk.
Get well soon

Thank you everyone, for your well wishe for my PC. I'm sure it'll be back up and running smoothly soon after the hospital stop, but it looks like it may be a couple of weeks.
I dropped it off at the 'puter shop on my way to work (good thing I drive to work in this crazy town, crazy me) and the repair counter clerk argreed that it sounded like the LCD went caput (which LCDs are known to do) but they asked to take the 'puter itself along with the LCD for good measure.
I'd been told before that the life span of LCDs is 3 years, and this is the second time it lasted under that, just out 2.5 years, so I guess I'll be better prepared next time.
Well, the more advanced technolgy gets, the more delicate the machines become.
Yes, Lisa, isn't is strange how we were able to survive without 'puters and the internet, and here we are, going into a panic when we are forced offline, willy nilly.

I'm still a bit frazzled yet here, and may feel I'm missing that little something until I get my regular 'puter back, but I'm sure I can survive despite.

it is funny how we used to get along without this internet stuff. i mean even a year ago i didn't have internet and i survived. but last night Roo jokingly said he was going to take the computer back to the store where we got it, (hehe, i didn't want to give it up cause i had an awesome game of internet checkers going on, just starting to get into online gaming), and i almost freaked on him. i know he was joking but for a minute there i saw myself without the computer and all the fantastic things i can do and learn being taken away from me and my heart skipped a beat. i alos remember tv without a remote control, huge VCR players and cd? or dvd? when i was a kid i would have wondered what those things were. Now i'm so adapted to them that i think that i would go into withdrawl if they were taken away for to long.

good luck with the pc Doc, i too hope you get it back before 3 weeks, but i have to say i love the laptop. we are going wireless with it at the end of the month so i will be able to take it outside on nice days and e-mail, chat, post ect. and enjoy the fresh air at the same time.

Hey doc, I hope you have your puter issues resolved soon. I remember getting a virus about a year ago on our computer and we almost lost all of our pictures. I am glad that we were able to retrieve them, but I was so devastated since we hadn't made a back up of them before. That reminds me that I am due to make another backup cd of the pictures again. Thanks for the reminder.

Thumbs up Back up!!

I got my 'puter back today, just finished reconnecting everthing and setting this up, yey!!
Turned out it wasn't the LCD but the mother board and the built-in CCD camera. No cost, since I had extended guarantee, and the replacement was within the limits. While I was at the shop to retrieve this, I had the memory increased from half a G to 1G. Is it faster? I can't see the difference yet, I suppose it will be apparent when I get around to editing graphics and things.
Now, I have to put my desk back in order, and then get around to backing everything up, , geez do computers need pampering more than humans!!
