i figured something out today and i can't believe it took me so long, the dietician told me i couldn't drink from a straw right after the surgery because it might cause more gas, i found using a straw helped me to sip, but this morning i drank my shake with a spoon. i know this sounds funny but using a spoon and drinking it like soup one spoon at a time i am forced to only sip, (baby spoon of course), so for any new post ops with problems or pre ops on the way try this it really works for me (although roo watched me with a really funny look on his face, like he thought i was crazy or something, never said anything though)hehe
I am just under a week out, and am taking great care to eat SLOWLY. With my broth getting cold before I can finish and my protein shakes getting warm before I can finish I have been going nuts! I can live with the soup, but today invested in some of those insulated mugs that have a hollow outer core filled with water. Now my shake stays icy cold the whole time I drink it!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hello Willo,
I have not yet had my surgery, so therefore I don't have the personal experiences that others may have, but I have gone to the meetings and such. They told me to follow the steps of required food VERY closely and do NOT eat anything unless your doctor has cleared you to. I know on my paperwork I recieved from the dietitian it says you can have cream of wheat in weeks 2 thru 5 and only your allowed portion of 7 - 8 teaspoons.
But, to be on the safe side make sure you check with your surgeon, he will let you know if you are ready and what you can have.
Best of luck to you, and God bless.
Dana
