Just saw the date

and realized tomorrow's my birthday. Forty (gasp, sputter choke, gag..) eight! Wow. I can remember clear as day, being 14, looking intently in the mirror, thinkg, geez, when it's the year 2000, I'll be forty two. That's so old, I can't even imagine.

Today I thank my lucky stars I made it this far and am in the shape I'm in. How grateful I am to not be looking in the mirror at 48, 370 pounds, full of self loathing, guilt, demoralization. Tomorrow I can wake up, look in the mirror and love what I see, regardless of my faults.

Now THAT'S a birthday present!!!

So, your're two times twenty plus four times two, congratulations!!
This is YOUR year, you know.
What am I talking about? Well, in Asia, this year is the Year of the Dog, which comes around every 12 years. Those who were born in 1994, 1982,1970, 1958, 1944. 1932, 1920, 1908, 1896....and on down the line....were born in the Year of the Dog. Dogs are considered guardians, especially of children and family, and also holy places. (They guard shrines and temples here.)
A double congratulations is in order.
