I have a question? Is nuts bad for you? I love cashews and have been craving some. I thought they would be good for me since they have protein in them.

They Are Very Good For You But You Should Talk To Your Doc. I Think You Are To Early Out To Be Having Nuts Hun. At Least Thats What My Paperwork From My Doc Says. But All Docs Are Different

They are high in fats, but they are the GOOD fats (mono/polysaturated)...they are also high in protein. I eat them on occasion, but not to the extreme or every day....kinda like peanut butter!
I'm with BOOTS though...it may be a bit soon for you to go there...unless you puree them...and then you might was well have peanut butter!

I ate some candied nuts before my surgery, made with butter and some splenda brown sugar and cinnamon. My daughter makes them becasue they are very low carb and very healthy. I asked my doctor when I can start nuts and she said not until I am 6 months out. Later on I will post the recipe.

Thanks for your advice. I guess I will try the peanut butter thing. I am petrified of losing my hair and thought it would be best to start trying to get in some type of protein as soon as possible.

Start taking BIOTIN (you can get this at Walmart). It will promote new hair growth and it's making my nails grow like crazy....
I don't know of anyone who completely avoided the hair loss thing...but it's not a huge ordeal...it's more of a thinning than a falling out thing with most of us....you notice it...but others probably won't!

BE CAREFUL WITH THE PEANUTBUTTER BECAUSE ITS LOADED WITH FAT SO MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE IF YOU TRY THAT. DIDNT YOUR DOC GIVE YOU A PLAN ON PAPER THAT SHOWS WHAT FOOD YOU CAN HAVE AT WHAT STAGES (months out). I DIDNT TRY PEANUTBUTTER TILL RECENTLY AND IM 3 MO OUT. BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. JUST BE CAREFUL.
IF YOU LOOKING FOR PROTEIN DRINK YOU PROTEIN DRINKS, LOW FAT CHEESES, ETC

I have the mixed nuts from Costco, started on them when I was put on soft foods, 3 weeks out from surgery, I snack on them when I need a snack, Chew them well though.

I tried cashew halves midmorning this morning and haven't had any problems with it so far. That's a good thing. That's one way to get protein and it tastes good too.
