| I have some good news. I have tried again today to start taking my vitamins. I have also found a great way to add LOTS of protein to my day. In the grocery store last night, I found that Gordon's fish fillets have 17g protein in each piece of fish that is about 21/2 to 3 oz. each. I also found a protein shake that has 42g of protein total. It's 17 ounces so I know it will take me a while to drink it, but I figured I could sip on it every few minutes. It only has 2g sugar in the whole thing. My question is, does the protein drinks count at all toward your daily liquids? Thanks for your help.![]() P.S. I also found the calcium caramel chews. They taste delicious!!! Maybe all of this together will help me break this crazy stall.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I talked to my NUT about the HIGH PROTEIN stuff (new whey bullets)...she indicates our bodies are NOT capable of absorbing that much protein at a time, and to be careful, we don't want to wind up with protein in our urine etc.....maybe doc can enlighten us on this....I do like SYNTRAX NECTAR peach protein powder, and the PROFECT bullets are good! (23-25 grams of protein per serving!) Watch the boxed foods for fat, carbs and sodium! Also, there's a on-going debate with the calcium (carbonate vs citrate). Some of our NUTS have suggested citrate ONLY, as the carbonate will not absorb! I've been lucky....the bariatric advantedge vitamins are "do-able" for me, and I don't really mind the grit....I use the chewable multi (tropical fruit) and wild cherry calcium! (you can get them here in our estore!) |

| Super Moderator | Yes, the drinks, the shakes all count towards fluids, as well as protein. Two in one. As for the absorption, about 25-30g per sitting is said to be the amount that is absorbed.

| Well, what is considered a "sitting" if I sip it like water? Does that help to absorb most of it?

| Super Moderator | A *sitting* means at one meal, or a snack. The issue with protein absorption actually is how much protein will be used by the body in how much time. In other words, even if all of the protein is absorbed, if they are not all used up by the next protein intake, then most of the leftover will be relased from the body as waste, not stored, because the next batch is already in town, so to speak. Our body uses on an averge, 35-50 grams of protein per day, though it may be higher than that when you need to heal from something, or are doing weight training etc for competetive athletics, so the recommended daily intake is 60-75 grams per day to make sure that you have get enough absorbed. This goes for everyone, regardless of whether they are normies or bypass post ops.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Christy, ask your doc about the calcium. My doc had me stop the caramel chews since they are calcium carbonate, we need to be taking the citrate since we absorb that one better. I have started eating alot of fish post op, what an easy way to get in a high amount of protein. I am hooked on Tilapia and grouper now! |

| Yes, Kim, I found the Gordon fish fillets have 17g protein in each fillet. I can eat about 3/4 of the fillet right now if I don't eat anything else.
