Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Oh honey this is the appoiment that always freaks people out. When comming out of my first visit with one I acutally felt pretty good. They just ask you questions. Just be yourself and honest with them. There just gonna make sure your ready for the surgery. If they feel you need more visits they will recommend them. I had to do two. The first one was to talk and the second was to take a test. Multiple choice. I dont know of anyone else who had to take the test but I did. Thoughout all the post I have read here i only seen one lady denied surgery because of a vist to the Psycharist. At the end of my visits He told me i was fine and ready to take this on. He also said if i ever needed to see him again just call. I have kept his number just incase. I would much rather go see a psycharist any day than go have lab work done. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | When I went the doctor he asked about my husband, our marriage, was I happy in my marriage, how many children we have, my relationship with my parents, sibblings, he asked if anything tramatic ever happened to me etc. He asked alot of questions but nothing out of the ordinary, I felt I was having a conversation with someone I knew. He asked how my family felt that I was having surgery, if they supported my decision etc. Don't anticipate too much, just answer truthfully. Then he scheduled a visit for the following week for me to come back and answer truthfully a series of questions, I believe the test is like a personality profile. Again, just be honest with your answers. Don't try to answer a question the way you think the doctor would want you to answer it. I don't know if you doctor will have you take this test or not, it is very long, but very easy, don't worry and good luck to you.

| Super Moderator | To be honest, with some recent research data coming out, more significance will probably be put on the psych in the future. Not to deny you the surgery, but to give you a better chance at dealing with all the changes in life and lifestyle that you have to make post op. In a way, it's going be re-learning about everything including your relationship with food, how you relate to people, etc. That said, it is basically to check if you are mentally ready for the changes, and that you will be able to take care of yourself. Of course, if some issue comes up that need treatment, that doesn't mean that the surgery is completely off, it only means that it has to be postponed until you are better prepared. Just be your natuaral sweet old self, that's the best, and you'll do fine. (((((HUGS))))
