Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | NEARING my ONE year surgiversary....I am noticeing a very interesting change when i eat. I am at a point that i eat more then those first 6 months post op and have a bigger appetite. BUT what i notice is that i NO longer search for the biggest when eating i go for the smallest. I used to grab the biggest baked potatoe or the largest slice of pizza and now im always looking for the smallest! THAT feels wonderful and maybe i have made some good habit changes!!!! thanks for listening, cause this is in a way odd and i am sure many can relate. xoxox

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | That's really great!!! Do you also look at your morsel before you eat it as if you are checking it before it goes bye bye!! hehehe well Mom told me the other day when she was watching me eating that I eat the food in my fork in 2-3 small bites. In fact she got pissed of she said "Listen if you don't like my food don't force yourself to eat it, you will vomit" heheheheh I said no MOM of course I like your cook it's the best in the world but I can't swallow the food before chewing it!! Mom still doesn't know that I did the bypass! she thought I removed the old band and the gallbladder that's it! I told her mom my stomach is sensitive I can't eat like before and I think she buys it hehehehe Reason I haven't told mom, coz she can't keep it to herself and I don't everybody to know about my op. I hope your and my good habit keeps on. Lovely to share your lil thoughts with us

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | well early post op at your stage food just wasnt all the interesting to me...i was eating to survive at that point. I think its cute your mom worrying about your food. AND its okay if you didnt share with her about the surgery. ITs your own personal choice and I can fully understand it. NO one wants everyone to know of the surgery, just whom we choose to know. HUGS lisa

| Super Moderator | "Feast with your eyes first" is one of the instructions we give to people here, regarding their eating habits. This, instead of making you crave for more, actually helps your brain to adjust to the amount you will be eating and be satisfied with it. Lisa, it must be exciting for you find yourself satisfied with small portions, and seeing the proof of your own progress in finding yourself looking for the smallest pieces! Chuppy, the comment from your mother is rather funny, I guess mothers account for a lot of their children's behavior in regards to eating. You'll have to convince her that eating slowly by chewing throughly and not gobbling up at a fast speed makes you better appreciate the wonderful meals that your mother prepares, and that when you eat slowly, you don't have to eat great portions to be satisfied, actually, you are savoring the food and that is much more satisfying. Congratulations both of you, on your new relationship with food!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | yeah it is cool realized that i DONT look for the biggest anymore and that i am completely satisfied on the smaller portions. I would say PORTION size was a big factor to my obesity... and the fact i didnt get full. BOY this tool has fixed that for me.

| WLS Mentor | friend that's so neat that you noticed that. Funny but even with being pre op and only trying to maintain rather than gain wait i have noticed the same thing in myself. i've also noticed in trying to eat only till i'm am starting to be full instead of eating till full full and unable to move i am oftern not finishing the portion sizes i used to eat. Keep up the good work Chuppy , funny that you mentioned your mother saying that to you because Roo and i just had a discussion of sort s in that theme yesterday. I haven't met his family yet and he hasn't told them about the surgery and i asked him if he was ever going to tell them because if they meet me at this size and then see me so much lighter a few months down the road after their surgery that they might think i'm sick. He joked that his mom would probably try to give me money to go and eat, and i said that or if we go for dinner i don't want her to think i don't like her cooking, (which i know i do like because she's sent stuff over to us before).

Height: | Okay so something I just noticed the other day is that pre-op I used to use the handicap stall in the restroom whenever it was available, but realized that even if it is available I don't tend to use it anymore unless I have my daughter with me. Cool observation Lisa. Janae |
