Sorry Ladies but ever since I found out that my operation is definately going to be in the middle of January my dreams are coming back to me ! I no its sounds funny but I was really getting down on everything thinking it wasnt going to happen then B A N G !!!! Things are just starting to click ! How long ater sergery do you sit on the side lines as far as stuff like .. swimming...workin out ...playing sports with your kids . My family just got a family membership at the YM-YWCA and Im just wondering ! I no you got to heal for about 6-8 weeks ...but is that it or is it up to your doctor ? Sorry for rambling ...but i have just feeling really happy and positive about stuff and emotionally I feel Fantastic !!! {{ Big Hug }} Jerry

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass  |  Well I was out of bed walking the halls the day of surgery - I was encourage to start walking 10 mins and work up to an hr. I could swim in my own pool after a week if I had one - since I live in a Park Model in the winter I had to wait for 5 weeks to use the pool here in the RV Park. I am hoping to begin working out with the trainer who arrives in Nov. I am 8 weeks out so figure I can do most of it to help tighten up what will at my age. judy

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I also was up and walking around the night of my surgery.By the third day in the hospital the nurses where teasing me about walking so much, they said i was gona burn a whole in the carpet.  When i went home i started walking more and then at 5 weeks i started swimming again. I dont really know what more i can do right now, i had open surgery so the healing time is longer. Im still afraid i might hurt something. I need to call my dr. and find out. I would say ask your dr just to be safe.

The working out is a 6 week thing too but he does incourage walking alot after surgery. I am 3 months out and play frisbee and football with my kids. I finally have the energy to do all that |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Morning Jerry...I was up and walking within an hour after surgery! They like to get you up and moving as soon as possible. I had a g tube in me for 6 weeks, so I couldnt do anything other than walking until after it was removed and completely healed! Which is about right now! LOLOL I am completely closed! I go to the doc tomorrow and they will release me for EVERYTHING. I know that you are so excited right now and it amplifies more and more with each passing day. |

THE best thing for recovery is moveing around and it helps break up the surgery gas in ur stomach! As far as more physcial activity, each surgeon seems to clear people differently. I was told to wait 3 months to return to the gym do to the way i carried all my weight in the gutt to avoid a hernia he wanted me well healed. I walked and did light swimming the first three months. I wasnt swimming laps...and truthfully those first months any acitivity drained me. HUGS this is such an exciteing... and we do expect tons of questions now!!!! as u get nearer
