Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | What has been your experience with your health insurance covering your post op complications like strictures, ulcers, etc, if they would not cover your WLS? I paid for the WLS myself, but now I am broke and worried if I do have a complication, I may need to get a 2nd or 3rd job to cover the bills.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I self paid and LUCKILY (knock on wood) have had ZERO complications...I will have insurance next month, but I still worry that they would consider anything that surfaced associated to this as pre-existing. I just don't know yet! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | If its necessary such as a stricture or ucler or somthing that could be life threating they should pay for it. They wont be looking at it as a complication to surgery. They will just see the code such as a gastric stricture and go from there. That is the way it should be anyways. You have acutally rasied a very good question. Mabye someone else who has had this done self pay and went through this can be of more help but i dont see why they would deny payment. |
