| Super Moderator | If the psych dr asked you to come back for therapy until your surgery, my advice is to do so as asked. A lot of thie journey will be mental, not physical, and if you are already diagnosed as being depressive, then do not be surprised that the post op adjustment you need to make about food and your lifestyle will be a stressor that will temporarily make your depression worse before it gets better. There are a number of people, both pre and post ops, on this board are on anti depressants. Besides, if you are scared your surgeon will not give you a date because of your depression, then what better reason is there than to have it treated and taken care of beforehand, even before he gets a chance to say something about it.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i am sure all will be fine. best advice is to resolve it now some. I will say i never had issues with depression and mood swings till post op. SO its for ur well being to get a handle on it pre op so it doesnt worsen post op! its a rough journey at times! hugs

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Yes I agree with Doc. I only wish my surgeons practice allowed more phych visits. This is a total mental thing. So much more than physcial. I didnt think so before surgery but oh yes it is. It messes with your head. So go for what they are reccomending and it will be a big help for you. Best of luck on your journey. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | i agree, go to the visits... this surgery does NOT cure the mind games. and if not treated right, if could be very difficult to handle. good luck and i am sure everything will turn out.
