Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass   |  My Mom Flipped Out Well, I figured I'd break the news. Let's just say it didnt go over well at all; which was to be expected. I know my mother quite well. After the screaming "YOU DID WHAT???" and a few choice F words...the conversation was over. I will not let this set me back at all. I knew it was going to happen. At least now she knows....  So instead of going to Mcdonalds and getting one of everything on the dollar menu, I drank some water and hopped on the elliptical. I guess i HAVE learned something!

I am glad you got the attitude you do for yourself. You look so happy and your look soooo awesome. I was sooo afraid to tell my parents that I was going to have the surgery and was afraid that they thought that I could do it on my own, which I have tried for so many years and was unsuccessful. My parents sure surprised me and said that they are happy that I was going to have the surgery done, which meant having me around for many years for them and my husband, children and grandchildren. And also being a much healthier person. They have seen my health go downhill and having lots of health problems creep up on me. My dad went up to my daughter( who had her surgery on Dec. 15 and lost almost 100 pounds by June) he told my daughter that he was so happy and grateful that I was going to have the surgery and all becasue of my daughter. She was my inspiration to have the sugery. Keep up the good work and you are an inspiration to me. Hopefully your mom will come around and see how much a healthier and happy person you are. Good Job Girl, you go go go

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Kenya, Hey, if I could have kept my surgery a secret from my mom and even my husband I would have. My husband didn't want me to do it and my mom has drilled me with a million questions. I guess that's a good thing, but she is still driving me crazy. I'm 40 years old and I consider myself smart enough to consider all the consquences. My mom is treating me like I'm 8 and is making sure I've thought of this, that and the other. Again, it's probably a good thing, but it's annoying me. My husband, who has gained/lost 5 pounds through our 20 years of being together just didn't understand "why" I wanted to do it. He was scared he'd be raising our kids without me. Now, he's cool with it, since I'm here and well. Who knows why friends and family react the way they do. Some are scared for you, others are jealous, and some are just naive to the hell we all go through trying to lose the weight and don't understand why we seek WLS. In the end, it really doesn't matter what everyone thinks, we all did this for ourselves not for the sake of others. The truth of the matter is, if your happy your family and friends should be happy for you. If not, then they probably have issues of their own to deal with. Oh, and girl you look great!
