I am two months out from my surgery and I ate a 4 inch banana and I got it all down in one sitting, about in 8 minutes I had it all eaten. I am worried that was to much in one sitting, but I did not get sick from it or felt like I was over full from eating that banana. Does anyone else eat a banana of this size at one sitting. As a rule I can only get 1 or 1 1/2 ounces of meat down and I am full. You would think for a banana being heavy too that I would not be able to eat that much of a banana. I can only get two ounces of flavored cheese down and I am full. This might be weird, my stomach can not handle chicken I puke every time from chicken, and fish products give me a ickky feeling so I do not eat them. But now beef agrees with me wonderfully. But I eat mostly chilie becasue the beef and the beans and the spices agree with me wonderfully. I also eat meatballs, hamburger with ketchup on it, and sausage. That is pretty much it for beef for me. I am so limited with food becasue so many foods make me sick yet and just the thought of chicken turns my stomach.

I am not a big banana fan. But I do know that I can eat more of some foods than others. If it didn't make you sick, I wouldn't worry about it. You didn't damage your tool. The only way I can eat chicken is too cook it with soup like cream of mushroom or onion soup on it. I can eat tuna fish w/o trouble and most fish grilled or baked. But sometimes for no apparent reason I will .It is just a learning process for us all.

I started eating bananas after my surgery because of leg cramps...i was eating a half of a banana everyday and worked my way to a whole one, which wasnt good for me because I would get sick of it. I would cut it in half and leave the other half for my boy...who can eat a whole bunch on his own with no problem. Have you tried Turkey yet? I eat that more than anything. Turkey everything...brats, burgers, sausage, ground up except for sliced turkey, for some reason that HURTS my pouch really bad. And remember the sauce...that makes everything easier for me to eat. I just made quesadillas last night with cut up chicken and beef and that sat wonderfully!!! My first real try with beef. I also used the carb control tortillas. YUMMMMMM, 2.5 and some refries and I was done for. LOLOLOL I remember a time when I could down 5 of them bad boys. LOLOLOLOL

well bananas are soft. might be easier to get down more than meat. i can still only eat about 2 ozs of meat. but i can eat a whole regular size banana. go figure. there will be certain things you can definitely eat more of than something more solid like meats. its strange and somtimes no rhyme or reason but you will find your way. |

I can also eat a whole banana, they are one of those foods that seem to pass through the pouch faster than others, like yogurt and mashed potatoes. Don't worry about it, as long as you are not getting out of hand with it!

Maybe because the banana can mush up so good? I eat a half of a bananna myself. I probally could go a whole one but stop at a half. I have found I can eat any meat and tolerate it very well. I was scared that beef would be my issue considering I love it so much. So far so good. Kitty as far as the chicken goes make sure its very moist and added to somthing to try it if you try again. I only like white meat chicken. We all know its more dry than the rest. I hae to moisten mine up. Last night i cooked it. Then chopped it up and put tomato sauce on it fixed like for pasta. It was delicious and made it so moist. My Dr told me he wants me to chew stuff now. Yes he likes im doing soft foods but needs to know how chewing some of the harder stuff will do with me. Its been just fine. As the ladies said its all trial and error. I hope you can do chicken eventually. Take care sweetie.
