Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass  |  Gift for my surgeon Hi there! I am 5 months post-op and and doing very well. My husband had the surgery just the other day ( 11/8/07) and came home today. Everything went great! He was 475 lbs. We have an absolutely fabulous surgeon. He admitted that he was very worried about my husbands surgery as he has many medical problems but all went well. I wanted to get him a gift. Just a token of our appreciation as he has been such a blessing to us. Any suggestions?

Sometimes, docs like to get letters or cards with pictures of before and after shots. Gifts are hard to buy unless you know of some specific thing they're into. I have worked in a drs ofc since ~87 so, trust me, I hate the Christmas - what to get the doctor question!!!! I think my docs just enjoy knowing they made a difference in someone's life. just my 2 cents.

I told him, "there's a skinny woman inside me SCREAMING to get out and I've always just shut the bitch up with cookies." So what does he do???? He sends me a cookie bouquet BEFORE surgery...writes on one of them...."to the woman inside!" I also had a client who sent me an entire 12 inch Cheesecake Factory cheesecake...both of these are great ideas for gifts! |

| Super Moderator  | If I were your surgeon, more than anything else, I would love to know year by year, you are doing well and are happy. It would help me to know what bumps and humps you had, what WOWs you had, what encouraged you, what discouraged you. An honest assessment of your journey. The input you give us will help us in help you and other patients better. As clancy said, to know that we made a difference in your lives, is the best gift we can receive. Rather than a specific gift now, sending picture Christmas cards or Seasonal greeting cards yearly, even after you and your husband are released from the surgeon's care, is probably the best you can give.
