I CALLED MY DOCTOR AN HE TRIED TO ASSURE ME THAT I AM YOUNGER, HEATHLY, NO OTHER HEALTH PROBLEM BESIDES BEING OVER WEIGHT I SHOULD BE FINE.. BUT HE DID WANT ME TO KNOW THAT HE CAN'T PROMISE I WON'T DIE.. BUT HE ITIS A VERY LOW RISK.. ALL OF MY FRIENDS ACCEPT 2 WAS LIKE DON'T DO IT.. THE OTHERS WAS LIKE..I SUPPORT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO..

I AM SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW..I AM HURTING INSIDE BECAUSE MY MIND WAS SET ON THIS..I NEED IT..

DOES ANYONE THINK THAT WAS A SIGN FROM GOD FOR ME NOT TO GO THROUGH WITH THIS?

I am twelve days out. I was watching crossing over with John Edward and "of course" someone passed away from Gastric Bypass surgery. I said, is this a sign, this is such a big surgery. My comfort was that my Bariatric Program in Florida has a "0" percent mortality, huge huge comfort. The whole process of getting your heart and lungs cleared, stress test, that all is why they do it, you have alot of hoops but know that every clearance you get makes is safer for you to do this.

To Answer Your Question I Don't Have A Surgery Date And That Can Give Me Time To Relax My Mind..

I think it is SO great that you are so young and healthy while approaching this issue! Also, you're absolutely correct in stating that a good portion of what this other lady had was cosmetic surgery, with it's own risks and factors! You're having a LIFE EXTENDING procedure (if you decide to have it).

I personally think that ALL surgery is very frightening. When faced with that possibility of "not being here" we all get scared unless we've done some serious acceptance of death/dying!!!!!!!!!! You look at YOUR surgeon's survival rate and how he "feels" about you as a surgical candidate--then you make an informed choice.

You KNOW how the media LOVE to hype the heck out of EVERYTHING! Look at poor Anna Nicole Smith! None of us should have read or hard 90% of what we did and ONLY god knows "Is any of it true?" I also think the media has a definite slant to make WLS sound scary/deadly and exaggerate (sp?).

I hope your fears will calm and you'll have due time to make your decision.

You have to weigh the pros and cons. *That coming from a Libra no less* If you do not have the surgery how will your life progress. For some of us it is a down hill slope. Those of us who have tons of problems from our weight can say do something before it gets this bad. But then again if you feel that you are ok with where you are then maybe you are just not ready to take this leap of faith. And yes any surgery is tricky. I have had a few and so has my daughter and the last time she had problems from the meds to put her to sleep.. Bad problems and she was going in for something simple. So to me a lot of it is in Gods hands. He will help you through life no matter what decisions you make. And if it is your time to go then surgery or not I believe that he is going to take you. You need to soul search before you make a yes or no answer. This decision is a life change so you need to be sure, very sure. WE can go along the road with you hun but you in the end have to decide. And we will be here either way.

No, I do not think it is a sign from God. God would not try and SCARE you like that. He's a loving father who cares about you very much and wants only what is best for you. While every surgery carries risk -- this surgery has been performed many times and the surgeons that do it are very good at what they do. If you have done all your homework then you understand the risks and you have to weigh them for yourself. As for God, He is right there wanting to give you all the love, strength and support you need to make the decision that is right for you. It sounds like what you need to do is join a support group and spend some time with them ahead of time. YOu need time to think.
