| I have a question about the 10 day plateau breaker plan that has been posted on here. I know you can have everything listed on the page, up to 3 oz. at a time, up to 5 times a day. My question is that it also says that you must have 45 g protein supplement and all your vitamins each day. Does this mean as long as you have 45 g protein in each day or does it mean that you have to use the protein powder supplements? Also, can you have your protein g in the AdvantEDGE low carb (2 carbs) protein shakes that count toward your water consumption? Sorry for the questions. Does anybody know? Thanks.

| Super Moderator | First things first. Sorry, but you are too early out for trying any sort of plateau buster. For one thing, it is a plateau when your weight has not gone down for more than 4 weeks. Shorter than that, it's just a stall, and your body adjusting to the rapid weight loss and changes. Since your are still not quite 2 months out of your surgery, there is no way you have hit a plateau. Consider. If an untrained person (which you are) was to run a marathon, that person is absolutely going to have to stop and rest from time to time to catch his/her breath before starting running again, until that person finally arrives at the goal point. This is what is essentially what bypass surgery does to you for weight loss. You're body's not geared for rapid weight loss, so it will go down in humps and bumps. So long as you stick to your surgeon's rules, you will lose the excess weight your body needs to lose. You also need to keep in mind that the less excess weight a person needs to lose, the slower the actual amount you lose will be, during a certain period of time. Generally, it's said that you will lose the first half of your excess weight in the first 6 months, then, of the remaining half, you will lose half of that in the next 6 months, and the last quarter in the next 6-12 months (in other words, after your first surgiversary). Another way of calculating. Say, you lose on the average, 10lbs per month. Now, that may not seem much, but if you lost on the average, 10lbs per month for one year, that is 12 months, then, 10 x 12 = 120. Don't let all the noises confuse you. You are doing as well as your body needs to, and you will have lost what you need to lose by this time next year. You need to do nothing but stick to your surgeon's rules. (((((HUGS))))

| Thanks Doc. I know it's hard to not listen to all the "noises". It's easy to panic and think this isn't working for me. I look at the weight others have lost and think they are losing it faster, so I must be doing something wrong. Thanks for your advice.

| Thanks Kathy. I guess it's just the stupid little voices in my head that I haven't learned to turn off yet that keep scaring me telling me I'm not where I'm suppose to be.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Chirsty I hate to say it but I think your way to early out for this. I know this is very frustrating but things will move and chagne. I think if you deviate from your doctors plan at this early stage it wont be good. Just try to be patient and stick to what your doctor says and things will happen. Rememeber when the scale doenst move the inches are melting off. Hang in there. I am 7 months out and I have not tried any of these plateau breakers or anything. I just hang tight and wait it out. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I know oh so well about those mean voices!!!!! But Doc really does know what she's talking about. But we have ALL been there!!! I just came back from my 6 month check up and he says by this stage they expect you to have lost 50-55% of your excess weight. And I'm at 63%. So, I'm happy to be "above average". But it WILL come off. I've had so many stalls in this past 6 months, and not losing an enormous amount at one time. Believe me, those pounds DO add up!!! lol Just try to hang in there, I assume you....IT WILL COME OFF!!!!!! That's the beauty of this tool!!! |
