Default Water retention

Hi Everyone,
I'm 12 days out am having a problem retaining H2O. As far as I know I'm doing everything right- exercising by walking 10min.x3 a day.I'm on soft/puree and doing that, getting my protein. I don't have salty meals.
Did or does anyone else have this going on? Any ideas? Should I call my doc tomorrow?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Don't panic.
Your body has its own schedule, and everyone loses at a different pace. For some people, the losing doesn't kick in until after a couple of weeks or even more, until after your body has healed reasonably well. Remember, you have just had major surgery done, and your entire "plumbing" has been re-routed drastically. DON'T EXPECT your body to start functioning properly until your innards have healed completely. Just stick to your surgeon's instructions, and your losing phase will kick in soon enough. The earliest diets that you are prescribed are NOT for losing weight, they are for giving time for your stomach and intestines to heal. The diet for losing weight are the instructions you are given when you are back to regular food. Until then, keep in mind that you are in the healing phase, and whatever weightloss you have, is the very direct effect of having a major surgery done to you (so this can happen to anyone who has had any major surgery, not just gastric bypass), and not the result of the bypass surgery that reduces your food intake and limits absorption.
A year later when you look back, you'll realise that this is only a small step in your journey, something that's expected, and in no way an indication of failure, or of what is to come.

KAT!!!
Yea...wow, 12 days out....are you doing well, other than the water retention??~
I didn't experience this in your time frame...but, I am 5 weeks out (nearly six) and this week have been experiencing water retention. I haven't noticed it in my weight...or loss. Just my feet have gotten puffy.

Nothing like before my surgery - My toes, feet, ankles and calves were like balloons! I had edema pretty bad!
But, I can tell that that I may still have a little retention in my feet. ???
I think that most of mine is because of my TMO - or b/c the "moon" - as Doc might say!! LOL.

Can't wait to hear how you are doing....and see your progress.
Congrats on being on the "POST - Op" side of life!!

Default Thanks

My SIL is a nurse. She said it might be because I'm throwing off too much nitrogen as a result of having 9 day w/o protein after surgery. I'll just keep going forward on plan and will wait for these fluids and me to go our seperate ways. Thanks for your help!

Hey Kat....
Your Doc doesn't have you on liquid Proteins???
My Doc had me on a minimum of 50g of protein from day 1.... I love ISOPURE...there is a protein shake powder...but also a clear punchy like bottled drink!! It comes in great flavors. Each bottle is 20oz. and 40 grams of protein....

I think you should go ahead and do this....get as much protein as you can!!

As soon as I started on protein, my fluids were released within 24 hours.

Talking Ohhhhh!

I'm retaining water again...and Janae reminding me of this post Kat. I've been eating veggies....and not really enough of my proteins while I've been running around looking for a place to live in NYC.

I'm thrilled to remember.....because my feet are retaining....and I was puzzled?? Now...I'm going to get back into my routine of proteins....and see if I have the same luck.

I miss everyone....I'm soooo thrilled to be getting back into the swing...and back online! I'll post about my apartment in a bit!!!~
