Default Why do people do that?????????????

I am feeling really good about my decision to have surgery. I have spent the last 12 months researching and making the collective decision to have surgery with my family. I am good, ready to go, and feeling great.
Then.......
One of the mom's at my daughter's school heard that I was having the surgery. Yesterday, she pulled my husband aside on the playground to let him know all of HER concerns and how she is worried that I will be making a decision that will harm my body. She continued to go on about all of these horror stories regarding the surgery.
Why do people think they have the right to express their thoughts and ideas if they are not welcomed. Why do people say things when they actually know very little about the surgery and have heard one bad story and gravitate to it. I got over her comments really quick because I am sure in my decision. I was just wondering if any of you found that people did this when you were considering surgery?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Oh Yes!
Just This Pass Thursday A Co Worker Did The Same Asking Me Why Would I Want To Do Such And When I Shared My Knowledge From Three Years Research And Contemplating Back And Forth She Finally Said " You Know I Asked My Doctor For The Surgery Last Your And He Said No " I Figured It Was Because She Couldn't Get Her Doctor To Say Yes So She Now Finds All The Wrongs About It
You Know Some Fluffy People Find A Problem With Another Seeking Intervention Of This Type They Don't Want To Be Left Fluffy And Alone Ya Know

I think there are a few reasons why people behave this way 1) generally being "negative Nellie"/gossip-mongers; 2) Being kind of hypochondriac themselves; 3) Being people who have decided to "celebrate the beauty of their fat" and are angered by other viewpoints; etc., etc.

REALLY it doesn't matter WHY they do what THEY do. What matters is that we can choose to let it "roll off" and not bother us!!!

In the process of getting approval (which not everyone is able to!) for this surgery, the candidate is certainly well-educated and appraised of the risks of remaining morbidly obese vs the risks of the surgery! What more there is for anyone else to comment on is beyond me. When we are seeking life saving/preserving intervention and someone suggests that we are thoughtlessly self-mutillating for vanity... ...obviously it is THEY who have the issues!

XOXO

They are everywhere. Mine was my own coworkers. Especially one older lady. My surgeon give me a bookelt about the surgery. When they started on me I told them to shut up and read the book. It helped alot. The thing in the end is .....its your body your decision. They dont have to go back and forth to the Drs and deal with diseases we will get from being obese. That is my way of thinking. Let them walk in your shoes a while. Like I have said before .......unless its them they will never ever totally understand.

People like this are called HATERS. Mad at themselves and HATING our decision. My coworker said that my low Vitamin D level is an issue of wls. I said speaking of issues I had more than my share prior to surgery. I am medication free and if all I have now is a low Vitamin D level well who cares. I said when I was fat life was an issue!!

i second that. you are going to come across people who are going to try to tal you out of it either because they cant have it for whatever reason (no coverage, are scared, whatever the reason) and they will try to keep those who can down with them. as long as you are secure in your decision, dont let what they have to say matter.

The minute I decided to have surgery, I heard HORROR STORIES GALORE!!! People telling me they had "friends" who had it, and it went terribly wrong etc...

I have only regret with having this done....THAT I DIDN"T DO IT SOONER!!! People need to realize that most of us have researched this THOROUGHLY. They need to give us credit and have some faith in us and our decisions.......can I get an AMEN???
