Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | ![]() I think it is such a wonderful resource to have your knowledge and friendship on this board and first of all, I would lilke to say THANKS FOR BEING HERE~!~! I know how tough it has to be for you to come here each and every day to check on us and answer our questions. On top of that, you are always one of our biggest supporters and cheerleader. So from all of us.......THANK YOU SO MUCH!!![]() Now for the question........why do you think my cholesterol level would jump from 138 preop to 234 post op? This one baffles me and my doc. He wants to recheck it in three months, but is wondering if it is possibly a lab error. I have never had a problem with it being high and I am eating less meat, eggs, etc. now than ever. Got an opinion?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Woo something sounds funny, maybe doc can come up with an explaintion. |

| Super Moderator | Hmm, that's a first for me, too. One thing that could be the explanation is wacky female hormones. Or, the rapidly melting fat in your case has raised the cholesterol temporarily, and will come down once the extra fat is gone. Or, a combination of the two. Anyway, 234 is higher than recommended, but not high enough for immediate medication, especially since yours was normal pre op, so do as your dr says, and wait 3 months for the next blood lab, and don't worry about it. As your dr says, it could be a lab error, it has been known to happen.
