I'm copying and pasting from my Newbie thread: I just got home and I am like in the mood to do some serious somersaults  Dr Pupkova is AWESOME. I called Blue Cross/Blue Shield this morning and the surgery is covered as long as it's a MEDICAL NECESSITY. I asked the rep what there qualifications are and she directed me to the website. Here are the requirements to be approved: http://medpolicy.ibx.com/policies/mpi.nsf/6eeddf656d983ec98525695e0068df68/85256aa800623d7a852571d300544fe6!OpenDocument&Highlight=0,bariatric Because I had a blood clot in my right lung last May, Dr Pupkova wants me to get a Hemotologist consult (even though I've been off Coumadin for 2 months and my blood panel came back excellent showing I don't have clotting or blood issues) or a recent copy of my results to the hemotologtist and have them sign off I'm ok for surgery. She only wants me to lose 10 lbs (I lost 4 lbs since I started my little diet with my primary last week...but she said another 10 would be great and beneficial for me), and to get a sleep test done. I complained about waking up tired all of the time. She didn't indicate anything else. NO psych eval, no EKG, no stress test, no ECG...NOTHING! Just the sleep test and the hemotologist consult or letter. Plus to lose another 10 lbs. YIPEE! She told me to hurry up and get the letter from my hemotologist sent to her that I am ok lung wise and to get the sleep test done as soon as possible so we can hurry up and get me started....OMG, I may actually have this done before the end of the year *Snoopy Dance* I want to freak out sooooo bad. I just need this stinking sleep test and keep praying I dont have sleep apnea... Anyone know a sleep doc in the Philadelphia area? YES YES YES!!! |

Go Dizzy, That Is Great News..i Am Going To Another Seminar 2more At 7pm..it's For Another Doctor That Comes Highly Recommend From One Of My Co-workers..so Happen I Was Talking To Some Friends An She Came Over To The Table To Speack To Some One And She Was Talkin About The Breast Lift She Had Since Lap Rny..then I Was Like I Thought You Were Always Small I Never Would Have Known She Was So Nice She Got Out Pictures And Showed Us...then She Gave Me The Num To Her Doc. That Did Her Lap Rny An So Happen They R Havin A Seminar 2morw....she Also Said That She Didn't Have To Pay All Those Out Of Pocket Fees..she Said That She Didn't Pay Anything Till 2weeks Before The Procedure..and That Was Here Deductible.. I Searched The Doctor On Line...nothing But Great Reviews..there Was Some Not Happy With A Nurse Other Than That Nothing Major...you Can't Please Everybody... |

That is cool. I have to check to see if there are other bariatric support groups closer to home, because I am not driving 45 mins in the winter to go to any groups once I get the surgery. I am soooo happy you are going to attend another group session. I am going to call a few of the hospitals closer to me and see if they have support groups. Oh COOL. So you are still researching doctors at this point? I hope you find the right surgeon for you. I am going with Barix because of their success rates and that this hospital/clinic is only specialized in bariatric surgery. There is no rush. I want to get this over and done with...but I have a feeling my sleep test might come back as I have a problem. So I just prayed about it and I will anoint myself tomorrow when I get to work (my anointing oil is at work on my desk) and I'm going to fast as well. I've waited 3 looooong years to finally get up the nerve to do this, and I have made it this far and I am not backing down. And neither should you. I got it  I am going to make all of my calls today for the sleep study, to get my CBC test done (H. Pylori) and to see a hemotologist. I am praying I get these appointments this week. If not, I am off starting next Thursday until January 2nd...so I am cool. |

Hey B! I did get your last email, started responding and went to bed. Let me go finish now. I scheduled my sleep test for this Friday night, and my appointment with my hemotologist (whom I saw in the hospital last May or August) is Monday afternoon. I had my blood drawn for the CBC (to check on my stomach for bacteria/ulcers) this evening. I called the surgeons assistant today to inquire if I will need anything else done (she hasn't called back yet) since I will be off for so long. I want to make sure I can get all of my appointments in before I go back to work in January. I don't want to have to wait and schedule a psych eval at the last posisble moment if I can get in now with someone. I know I may/may not be able to have my surgery done before the end of the year (I am hoping, but I'm trusting God for his timing...HE KNOWS BEST!!!), but I have time to do all of this and I don't want to lose momentum. I called so many hemotologist and sleep docs today and kept calling and scheduling until I found anyone who had an opening this week or next. I finally found them, and scheduled them |
