Default Safe prescriptions..

OK...it's pretty certain I'm developing a lovely little sinus infection (probably due to our lack of heat last weekend UGHHHHH)...now I know in the past, I was prescirbed antibiotics for this, but given the fact they mess up your intestines in the bacteria flush, how do they impact us now? Are there certain ones we need to aim for or avoid? I have always taken a z-pack in the past for this....and while I'm sure my doc will have direction, I wanted to field this out to you guys...who have dealt directly with the situation...

GOD...maybe I should just cut off my nose....POST NASAL DRIP!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I found this list, but didn't see zithromax anywhere on it....I'm actually curious to hear from people who are post-op that have been given antibiotics....how did that go? Was it really rough on the bowels?

I don't have any answers but it is a really GREAT question. I have often wondered about this very subject but have so far not been sick...knock on wood!

Oh ok Kathy. Sorry, I didn't even look to see if it was on the list before I sent it to you. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

WILL DO!!! I saw a few antibiotics on that list, but not the z-packs or augmentin, both VERY good for sinus infections (but both equally as harsh to your bowels)!

I also have a message into my bariatric coordinator...I'll let you know her response too!

Kath - I feel your pain (for about 2 days now....) I did ask my surgeon about meds on Monday when I went in but he only mentioned to avoid long term use of NSAIDS. and to use them only under Dr supervision. He didnt say anything about antibiotics. One of our oldtimers should have an answer for us soon I used the Tylenol Cough and Cold which didnt have a negative effect on me preop but yesterday I could barely stay awake from it (after about 3 hrs I was fine again, couldnt breathe, but I was awake)

Yeah...I've been using nyquil at night, but I have to ALREADY be in bed when I take it...it knocks me out FAST!!! I know it's not going to get better on it's own....I'm also vividly aware of how antibiotics work...that being said, I want the lesser of the evils!!

Let the prescribing dr know you are a bypass patient, and have something prescribed. Antibiotics do mess with your intestinal flora (which is the same for everyone) but sometimes you have to take the lesser evil.
So long as your dr is following you, don't worry too much about it.
