Question Carb cravings

anyone else crave carbs?? my craving come in the afternoon, like around 2 or 3 pm. its wierd. i will be fine all day and then i HAVE to have carbs. i know i am supposed to get to know my body and the new way that it works. what does this mean?? is my blood sugar low at this time and i need to eat?? I cant imagine what else. If i crave carbs do i eat them or stay away? im confused

Im with you Kenay. But once I have some it seems the rest of the day I want more and more. Its bad. So when I really want some I try to eat some protein with it like a cheese stick or something. But yes some days the carb monster wants to take over.

I'm not sure I've ever craved "carbs" specifically -- I've had so few actual cravings since the surgery but I have had them though usually its for salt.

im not sure but i think it means i need to eat something at that time of the day. i usually do lunch around 12 and then thats it til dinner.unless i have a snack, but if i dont that is a long stretch. maybe i could have shake or something in there....i should probably eat up until 3.30 or 4 i think since i dont eat dinner til 6 or 6.30.

who knows...one of these days i will figure this out! lol.

I only get cravings later at nite, especially if I am bored or watching TV. I think you should have something between lunch and dinner, but not carbs, they are from the devil himself. I have to have a snack between lunch and dinner myself or I am so hungry at dinner that I eat too fast and get sick.

Yeah Kenya I Really Think You Should PLAN On Packing A Snack With You For The After Noons. That Is To Much Of A Long Stretch. Whether Its A Shake Or Some Sort Of Snack. If You Bring Somthing You Wont Give In To Somthing Bad That U Can Buy At Work.

Cheese And Crackers Are Good
1/2 Banana
Protein Chips Are Excellent!!!
Apple
Protein Shake
Etc Etc Etc

It Will Help Ya Till Dinner Time

Yes, your blood sugar level is most likely low st that time of the day. The tradition of snack time at around three is logical when you consider the fact that that's the time around when what we had for lunch is digested and absorbed, and our blood sugar levels come back down to it's *resting* level.

To prevent this carb hunger, eat at set intervals if possible, and if you do crave, then get in protein along with the carb to prevent further craving, because raising the blood sugar level, then have it come down quickly again (which happens because sugar is absorbed rapidly, then metabolized quickly) will cause another bout of carb craving. To prevent this, you need to slow down the absorbtion and metabolization, which is what protein helps do.

Yes Kenya I do get this as well around 2pm espically if its a busy day and I dont get to eat right...I also get shaky and dizzy again my body telling me that my blood sugar is low. As everyone said above try to bring snacks and eat your small meals through the day to prevent this {easier said then done} but we have to try right....
