Default Sick of being "healthy"!

You know, it seems like since I quit smoking in May and has this surgeryK in July........all in an effort to become healthier, I have been sicker than I ever have in my life! I spent 10 days in the hospital in June for an infection in my leg. had wls in July, had a cataract removed a few weeks ago and am just starting to come to after over a week of hell.

Last Wednesday my som called from school with a headache so I went and picked him up. When we got home I thought hmmmmmmmm. I have a bit of a Headache too. Well, bu the time hubby got home from work, I was feeling warm. Of course I couldn't find a thermometer so I stopped on my way to teach class and picked up one and some tylenol. By the time I got to my office I was so dizzy that I couldn't get out of the car/ Took my temp and it was 103.5. Cancelled class. went home laid around. still had a headache. you know the kind that every little noise makes you jump out of your skin. So I ate Tylenol every 3-4 hours. never could get temp below 102, Tuesday night I called my Rheumatologist and asked if maybe I should be seen in Er, of course they will never teel you to go, but won't tell you not to either. decided if I didn't feel better Friday he would see me in the office/ Well, by Friday I am now running a consistant 104.3 degrees. am confused, dizzy amd the last thing I am thinking about is the doc. My 22 yo son came home from college to find me talking to my mom (who died over 2 years ago)He was scared shitless and threw me in the car and off to the hospital we went.

Long story short, can't seem to find the source of the infection, had a brain scan, spinal tap, MRI's. the whole works. Still can't bring my fever down so now I get the cooling blanket treatment. IV"s wide open and they even MADE me take Motrin (which I did keep insisting that I could not have!!LOL) Pulse rate up to 172 due to fever which also caused an arrythmia in my heartbeart, so I now get the full cardiac workup, EKG 's. cardiac blood work. while continueing to get blood cultures every 5 minutes along with tons of other labs.

Finally they find the misplaced chest xray report and I have a huge pneumonia with pleuracy, so the mystery is solved. they have found a source for the infection/ They had a hard time diagnosing it because I had no symptoms pointing in that direction/ No cough. no shortness of breath, nothing.................of course now I have plenty of chest pain and still feel like crap, can't stay awake and am supposedly on bedrest for two weeks. (That can not happen, I have 3 offices opening for loans on Monday and they are not even near set up_)

So anyway, I thought I was going to get healthy?? I have never been sick until I decided to get healthy. It sucks!! Have not got my Christmas tree up, have not even begun shopping and I have 42 people to buy for. Obviously feeling stressed, especially since i can't stay awake more than an hour at a time.

So...............how was your week??

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

OMG!!!!
(((((((((HUGS)))))))))
That sure is a lot to take in a short time. I sure hope you feel better soon.
Hang in there, you are less than 6 months out of surgery, so a lot about your body and health is still compromised, which is why you are having so much trouble. WIth all that happened, it most likely will get you a tad longer to get stronger, so do be careful of yourself and your health for another 6 months.
Once you hit the 1 year mark, you should be sailing home free.

any surgery makes the natural killer cell counts DROP that very first line of defense against infection. This is why my infectious disease specialist wanted me to get the surgery done and yet REALLY was concerned I'd end back up in wheelchair, although it would be a smaller one!If the counts drop for LONG enough time it could re-activate what we'd worked hard for 4 yrs to push into a state of "dormancy". When those counts drop your immuno system is more susceptible to infection...

Remember although, yes this surgery is get us ALL healthier it IS major surgery and you body takes a LONG time to heal fully and recover.

Supplements--meaning vitamins are really really important to take to help that whole healing process and to help the immune system to stay as strong as possible.

I noticed you meantioned the rheumotologist? So you must have some type of autoimmune issue to begin with...we HAVE to be much more vigilant about our supplements because of this.

Even if we do everything right, we can still have relapses of our primary diseases when we have auto-immune diseases and our system is always going to be much more suspectible to infection. The road I chose was to get my body as strong as possible so even -if- I ended back up in a wheelchair it was NOT going to be in a 22in wide one like before..no way in h****!
