Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I guess my question is wierd. this could be a stupid question i suppose... I guess I am wondering if anyone else post op notices that food doesnt give that "high" that euphoric (sp?) feeling anymore? I mean, yes I have had some issues eating and volumes etc, but today for example, put that aside for a sec. i thought wow I can sneak a cookie. no one will know. pathetic i know. but i had one. and it just didnt do "it" for me. there were times pre-op when i could have eaten an entire roll of cookie dough (baked of course) by myself. and i would have been so content after doing so. never felt guilty. never thought twice. i just felt a sense of "relief" after i had eaten ALL of whatever i'd eaten. but today there was no spark. im not complaining at all. just wondering if stuffing my face pre-op was a bahavior or something i really needed; maybe a chemical dependancy or something i dont have anymore? binging used to make me feel good; i swear! now, forget the fact that food tastes wierd, but that THING that eating used to do for me is gone. anyone else notice this, or am i WAY OFF with this one? |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Nope, right there with you! I hate eating...it doesnt taste as good anymore and it doesnt feel as good either! I swear that I could never eat real food again and just live off of shakes and the Slim Fast High Protein Granola bars (which are the best). |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Well, Kim, I hear ya but unfortunately, Rachael, I enjoy my food now more than I ever did pre-op. B4, I would stuff myself silly and Kenya I'd eat the cookie dough raw cooked and anywhere in between! I know that some of the euphoria comes from chemical reactions in the brain, I self medicated thru chocolate which in turn stimulated my para-sympathetic nervous system and made me feel good. I survived my babies with chocolate chips popped prn (as needed)! I wonder if there's something about the way our bodies absorb differently that short circuited that for you? If so, it may be a huge blessing. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I hear ya, Kenya right now I don't want to eating anything like I used to. I loved chocolate and cheesecake, I could have eaten a whole cake, I had a very small bite of some today and it did nothing the taste was just ok, but I didn't want anymore. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I understand what you are saying. I have had real food and it is just not the same. I have a few bites and I am done. I don't get that " OH My Gosh " feeling anymore. Mentaly I miss it. In Chicago we have soooo many great food places. I have learned of many new ones since my surgery. I do go out to eat, but a cup/bowl of soup usually takes care of any hunger. I get concerned about the fact that I can just go with a shake, or maybe some cottage cheese, or yogurt. If left to my own devices I don't know if I would even be trying to eat real food. Family helps to keep me trying more solid food. I am finding it hard to handle real solid food though. I just keep my goal insight. I am closing in on 100 lbs lost since May and I feel pretty good. I have a long way to go. You are looking great, The latest photo you look amazing. I just try not to over think these things. I hope I am doing the right thing. I will see my surgeon next week for my 3 month follow up to last visit. 4 months since surgery. We will see what he says. Just keep up the good work .

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I tried some pumpkin pie last week, I used to eat it like it was going out of style before surgery, so I took a bite of my husbands, it did nothing, and the aftertaste wasn't too great either, took 2 more bites just to be sure and they were the same. The guys have since then baked cookies, made pecan bars and brownies and I have not cared at all, before I would have had to eat some, on a diet or not I would have caved in and ate them, but now, I just don't even care anymore, its just food. Saying "its just food" is so weird for me to hear myself say, its weird, weird, but it is so true.
