Default Nasty Misconception

Ok, this might be the most frustrating thing for so far since I have had surgery. I am almost 2 months post op and have lost around 50 lbs. People that know that I had the surgery act as if I took the easy way out. I feel like the people who do know think that this losing weight is sooo easy for me. While yes we lose quicker than most, it is a lot of hard work to keep up and make those right choices. My Mom actually said to me this morning that she thought, anything that was a wrong choice would make me sick and that is why I dont choose those things to eat. That is farthest from the truth. I imagine milkshakes and chocolate would go down, but because I am doing this the right way I dont eat them. Ohh It just makes me furious. Anyone else seeing similar feedback?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I know a lot of people think that, esp those who are interested in having the surgery - I must confess I didnt know how much of a challenge it would be myself until I got here! Ya know, one of the blessings of obesity is that I learned a long time ago not to listen to other people's stupid comments! Dont worry about them, they really dont know what they're talking about. Just smile at them and change the subject - dont know what else you can do.

Oh yes mam....I get that from alot of people too. Its so frustrating but at the same time they are just not educated on the surgery so they just think what they think

Here here, say "Easy, are you out of your mind", do you realize the agony and work I had to go through, that I can NEVER look at certain foods again, then don't talk to them again till they apologize, you don't need friends like that, only positive people

i have come across this as well and as soon as i explain what i can eat and what i cannot eat anymore, how frequently, amounts, and the emotional rollercoaster it all changes. a lot of people are not educated at all. but we can educate them one person at a time

Before I Had This Surgery Or Even Did The Research I Also Thought This Was Alot Easier Than It Really Is. Its Only Now After The Research And Experience Do I Fully Understand. So When I Tell Others What This Surgery Is Really About Some Understand And The Close Minded Think What They Want To Think.

Oh Well As Long As I Know What A Challenge This Really Is, Who Cares

Just a bit of a different perspective.
It's YOUR choice to let what they say upset you, or to walk off and not let it bother you.
YOU have the choice to
1) let what the others say upset you
2) to educate them and explain what the surgery really takes and be surprised at the sincere reaction of others
3) to smile and say "Everything is easier said than done." or "Things are never what they seem to be from the audience." or some other comments of that nature, smile (or just smile), brush it all off and walk away.

(((((HUGS)))))

When I had the surgery a lot of people still considered it 'cosemetic' surgery!

When I was at my lowest and gals would find out I'd had the surgery they'd say things like i wish -I- could have that surgery...this from the mouth of someone who only had probably 25 lbs to lose!

people get jealous and hateful for all kinds of reasons and they get very threatened by change.

Not to come off as flippant...but eventually you just get used to it.

Ive been on this site for a while now and I cant count how many times this subject comes up ! Also I think everybody here has had this situation happen to them ! Personally... with me its simple...If I dont have the surgery...I die ...(absolutely no future in that...lol ) As long as my Wife and 2 boys are with me...thats all I care about ! Im also blessed with some really good family members and friends ! If anybody else knows ...you try explaining things to them...if they dont understand...then Im sorry to say its there problem ! The way I figure it...if anybody actually gives you a hard time about it...there trying to make themselves feel better by covering up there own demons ! In time you will be the winner...youll be healthier and looking good and they wont be any further ahead ! I no its tough sometimes but try to stay positive !!
